After more than 4 years the Royal Castle Stage next to Sleeping Beauty Castle seems to be set to be finally used for a show again – instead of function as a photo location for Disney Characters (in particular the Disney Princesses). The last show performed on this stage for a longer period of time was the first version of ”Winnie the Pooh and Friends, too” which closed at the end of the summer season 2005. Once its sets had been taken down the stage was sitting barren and empty except for minor elements moved in temporarly for the popular photo opportunities. However, most of the time the stage looked just as on the photo on the righ, taken this summer. BUT – that is about to change …
Earlier this summer rumors started surfacing that the Disneyland Park was looking at adding a small scale 15 to 20 minute show featuring Snow White somewhere in the park along the lines of the popular “Mary Poppins” show on Town Square and “Once Upon a Time … Sleeping Beauty” in the Castle Courtyard. The premiere of the classic animated “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” on BluRay this fall gave the rumor extra credibility. Soon the rumors got more concrete mentioning that the small happening might take over the Royal Castle Stage. But still so far no new set pieces have shown up on the stage and now visible work is underway …Â however, the official press release for the upcoming Holiday Season have fueled the rumor once again.
In the press release Disneyland Park announces that Snow White and her Prince Charming will bring the magic of Walt Disney’s very first feature length animated classic to life on the Royal Castle Stage, where guests can also meet with the royal pair. Certainly the announcement never expressly mentions a show or performance. However, the mentioning of the location (even so there is no visible change on the stage) and the wording can be interpreted accordingly, especially considering that the rumors have picked up considerably in the past weeks. Certainly even a small show would be welcomed by the guests, considering how popular the Marry Poppins and Sleeping Beauty events are – especially in light of the recent home entertainment (re-)release of “Snow White”…
