We are running late – more than a week without an update about the Disney Blockbuster Café in the Walt Disney Studios Park! But once again there is some “progress” to report. And this time it already starts outside … the car with the High School Musical 3 stickers has disappeared from its prior parking spot in front of the building. Instead the yellow cab (advertising the resorts rental car partner Hertz) next to it (on front of the wide window section of the Pirates of the Caribbean themed room) received an “update” and now advertises the new name of the restaurant on its ad-space on the rooftop. And there is more to report from inside the restaurant as well … (more…)

Goofy’s Summer Camp closed its doors with a final performance at 5:15 pm one week ago today – one more time the dedicated cast danced like a whirlewind across the wide stage of the Chaparral Theater, certainly adding some small extra comedy moments for the final performance (at one point even distracting the driver of the small golf cart bringing Goofy onstage enough, so that he drove into the rockwork of the set – without any real damage). Just one day later the construction crews moved into the theater and started moving the sand off the stage to prepare it for “Mickey’s Winter Wonderland” show, which will transport guests into a snow covered mountain setting as of November. However, the day after ”Goofy’s Summer Camp” closed another show returned to the Disneyland Park. (more…)
Construction Update
Saturday, September 5th, 2009
With the official end of the summer season past Sunday the work crews have returned to the Disneyland Park in full force – after a 1 1/2 month break, considering that some projects started in late spring actually finished only during high season. So which projects are currently in progress?
On Main Street, U.S.A., not a single major project is underway – but painters are busy touching up the facades in various changing locations every day.
However, once guests turn into Frontierland they will encounter the first major project: The Last Chance Cafe – the only project that is already underway since early August. In the meantime the construction walls not only block access to the counter service restaurant and its terrace but have extended to also block of the planters that separate that terrace from the patio of the Lucky Nugget Saloon next doors. So far the signage of The Last Chance Cafe seems to have been taken off the building’s facade – but the real news are the wooden structures on the former terrace! (more…)
New York Style Crepes??
Thursday, September 3rd, 2009
The New York Style Sandwiches restaurant in the Disney Village has extended its menu considerable in the recent weeks. Originally offering mostly sanwiches, hot dogs, fries and sweet treats the counter service location now has added two different groups of itmes: galettes, tortillas and bricks as hot and crusty, toasted items on one hand, crepes as sweet items on the other hand. A large A-frame located in the outdoor seating area of the restaurant is touting the new offerings to guests passing by.
Btw: The New York Style Sandwiches restaurant is operated by FLO, a French restaurant management company. In the recent years Disneyland Paris handed all restaurants in the Disney Village with the exception of La Grange (the all-you-can-eat-buffet at Billy Bob’s Country Western Saloon), the Billy Bob’s Country Western Saloon and the Sports Bar over to third parties.

Get your stuff to dance along
Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009
One of the central features of the “It’s Party Time… with Mickey and Friends”, the major show presented on Central Plaza up to five times daily, was supposed to be the “interaction” with guests surrounding the stage and dancing along to the instructions of the Disney characters and the huge cast of dancers.
Even so this concept did not play out the way it was intended the cast is still trying hard and the creative minds of entertainment are not giving up on the idea – in fact they now also got the merchandise department into the game! (more…)
New Audio Animatronics on Bigh Thunder Mountain?
Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
That’s the question some guests may have asked themselves when getting a closer look at the small island located right in front of Big Thunder Mountain seen from Riverboat Landing as they could clearly spot an egret during the past days eyeing the waters of the Rivers of the Far West and the fish in it.
However, the answer to that question is: no. This is a real live egret! Over the years the lush, natural landscaping and the various wide open water ways in the Disneyland Park have become a beautiful habitat for a diverse wildlife. After the resort stopped dyeing the waterways artifically blue early on the waterways soon were discovered by local wildlife as well as wildlife traveling longer distances and stopping by the resort only for a short break – not much different from guests.
