Big Boys Toys Arrived!

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Toy Story Playland ConstructionInside the Walt Disney Studios work on the new Toy Story Playland area has started. The “big toys” is rolling in to prepare the land for its new inhabitants from the Toy Story gang. A big yellow crane is spotted just behind the Toy Story decorated fence that encloses the area.

Toy Story Playland ConstructionThe fence is covered with a big Toy Story scene where Buzz and his famous friends are doing the best they can to try and hide the work for the guests in the best possible way.

However, peaking trough the fence reveals groundbreaking work is taking place.  The area is being prepared for the new kiddie (and Toy Story Playland Constructionthose young at heart) attractions.

But it will be a while before the new land is ready and until that time it’s the “big boys” that will be able to play with the big toys to get the attractions into place.

Last Chance Cafe Construction

Last Chance Cafe ConstructionThe Last Chance Cafe in Frontierland hasn’t been opened a lot. Doors stay closed most of the time with only periodic opening during the busy summer season. A couple of months ago work was being done inside the cafe, giving the impression it would reopen for normal business on a more regular basis. But the cafe remained closed as work moved from the inside area to the outside area. (more…)

Dining With a King

Friday, September 18th, 2009

King Ludwigs Castle StatueThe statue of King Ludwig originally located outside King Ludwig’s in the Disney Village on the King Ludwigs Castlerestaurant’s terrace disappeared when the terrace was closed in and transformed into the bar of the restaurant.

The statue has returned and found a new place right in the middle of the restaurant’s main dining room on the ground floor.

For the statue to fit at its new location the restaurant had to sacrifice some of its tables. Less place for guests, but those that do get a place are now able to dine with a king.

Cars and Trunks

Trunk of US Car 02When the Country and Western store “Buffalo Trading Company” closed to make room for the new Starbucks it was to be expected that the stores interior would change. With this change taking place some items where going to be stored away. Luckily some of these items will also find new homes. This is the case with the red trunk that was on display in the former shop.

Trunk of US CarThe trunk has now been added to the Disney Hollywood Pictures shop. The red trunk can be found at the far end of the store and is used for displaying some of the stores item. What better choice then to add car related items in the trunk. So to no once surprise the trunk is loaded with Cars merchandise.

The red front side of the cars also used to be on display at the middle left hand side of the Buffalo Trading Company. It was leveled about 2 meters above the ground sticking out over the edge with cow horns on top drawing the attention from shopping guests.

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

La Legende de Buffalo Bill at the Disney Village has changed their prices as a result of the VAT reduction in France. The VAT reduction was already adapted in several of the Disneyland Paris restaurants. These changes have also been adapted at the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show.

La Legende de Buffalo Bill - with MickeyTo inform their guest Disney has added informative flyers into their Buffalo Bill Wild show brochures that can be found on various locations such as the hotel front desks. The English text on the flyers says: “New Prices – This product partially benefits from the decrease in VAT. The prices displayed take this decrease into account”

The new prices are 70 Euro, first category adult and 58 Euro for the second category adult. Children prices are 56 Euro for category one while the second category is 44 Euro. Compared to previous prices this will save you 1 Euro per guest.

Bottles and Cans

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Separate Trash Cans 01The mountain of rubbished produced during one day at Disneyland Paris is, obviously, of uncanny proportions. To help the environment, recycling is therefor very important. At Disneyland Paris new trash cans are being tested to help this cause. Over at the Walt Disney Studios new trash cans for bottles and cans have been put into place in different location. With these set into place bottles and cans can be separated from other trash making recycling just that little bit easier.

Separate Trash Cans 02At this time three where counted but more should find their way into the park. Afterwards one can expect the Disneyland park to follow soon. These new trash cans can only work as long as people use them correctly. So it is now up to the guest to help Disney to not only make sure trash gets thrown away in the correct trash cans, but that bottles and cans find their way into their own trash cans.

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Premium Fastpass

A new Fastpass has been tested at the Disneyland Paris. Guests who didn’t want to, or don’t like to queue had the possibility to obtain a Premium Fastpass for a “small” price of 80 Euro. In return the Premium Fastpass would offer an unlimited entrance to all attractions with Fastpass system. The Premium Fastpass was available at the Disneyland Hotel concierge and the New York Hotel concierge. The offer was in a test phase, one that was planned to end August 18th.

The offer has not been stopped yet as Premium Passes where still available after the initial end date. Both the Disneyland Hotel and the New York Hotel concierge had boards up, offering the Fastpasses to the guests during this extended test phase.

If successful, it is to be expected that Disney will keep the Premium Fastpass as an ongoing option.

Annual Passport Office self service kiosk 01

The annual Passport has been very successful over the years. If you bought or had to renew your passport long queues at the Annual Passport office where proof of that. On some days the queue curled all the way outside of the office, straight into Discoveryland. A new feature at Disneyland Paris annual passport office are self service kiosk. With the new kiosks guest will be able to enter all the information needed to create their own annual passports. This might take away some of the waiting time pressure. That is if the kiosks are easy to use.

You can find the kiosks at the far end (seen from the entrance) on the lower level and right in front of the windows. Currently the kiosks are closed but the are prepared with a camera and a printer so guest can make their own Annual Passport. At this time there are no indications or signs yet to inform the guests about this new feature.

Christmas overtaking Halloween

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Christmas Merchandise 2009The Disney Theme Parks worldwide are known to celebrate a great Halloween party. Every Disney park in the world offers a lot of extras during this “not so scary” part of the year. Accompanied with the festivities the parks also have a lot of Halloween merchandise for sale. If you visit the Mousekingdom Blog you can already see a collection of merchandise that went on sale during the last week of August inside the Walt Disney World stores.

Christmas Merchandise 2009At Disneyland Resort Paris the Halloween season seems to be forgotten, at least in the shops. While we can expect the regular annual park decorations very soon, shop shelfs are missing any early Halloween collectibles. Instead of Halloween various shops have started to put up a lot of Christmas merchandise instead. While during the year most of the Christmas stuff can only be found at the “La Boutique du Chateau”, the shop inside the sleeping Beauty Castle, Christmas stuff can now be picked up at many of the other resort shops. It looks like Christmas has overtaken the Halloween season. (more…)
