Donald? Donald! Looking for Seaman Donald to swab the deck!

Newport Bay Club

Have you ever dreamed spending your time in a luxurious, waterfront hotel?
Well then – it is time to board the next clipper to Disney’s Newport Bay Club – according to Disneyland Paris’ own website a hotel where you are invited to “enjoy all the style and charm of the late 19th Century New England seaside, right on the waters of Lake Disney”.
Well, well, nice said … but in reality right now Disney’s Newport Bay Club does not present itself to the visitors as charming as it should be according to Disney’s promotion.
To be true, looking at the Newport Bay Club from the opposite shores of Lake Disney it more or less looks like a former First Class Hotel whose heyday has faded away a long time ago and not the “beautiful homage to the golden age of yachting and seaside ambience” which Disney refers to.
It is definitely about time to swap the deck – meaning: to repaint the exterior and, for that matter, to also do some rehabs at the inside.

Well, i think all the Disney hotels are ready for some renovation. Mostly on the inside. The hotels are not cheap at all and you simply don’t get value for your money. In every single disney room i’ve stayed in in DLP, there is always something that is damaged or dirty.

By the way, Donald, after swabbing Newport Bay Club you should continue with Sequoia Lodge (..and the other Disney Hotels at Paris, where the “Disney magic” got lost), they really need it – by then, see ya at radisson sas…

Of all the lakeside hotels the Newport was always my favourite. The theming of the hotel was excellent and from the opposite shores it always looked stunning, grand indeed. However, on closer inspection the hotel has lost its shine. It desperately needs a complete paint job, inside and out. Also, they could do with replacing the wallpaper that can now be seen wherever you look peeling away in just about every location. It will be a shame indeed if the powers that be continue to allow the decline of this hotel, which would indicate to me a more serious problem with the resort……..but that’s a discussion for another day.

Koen, you said it well. The Disney hotels are really starting to show their age and are in serious need of renovation. A lot of the cabins at the Davy Crockett Ranch are in complete shambles but DLP has no problem charging the same amount of money for 1 night as the Ritz-Carlton in Berlin. My sister works at a travel agency and she says bookings with her for the Disney hotels have declined more and more in the past years in favor of the newer (and often better priced) neighbouring hotels. They really need to get their act together NOW!
