The restrooms inside the Adventureland Bazaar structure at the entrance of the Adventureland from Central Plaza have been selected by the resort to test a new technical gadget to replace the “old style” paper towels and air dryers. Dyson Airblades have been installed in the restrooms, both for men and women.
According to the official website of the Dyson Airblades (from the inventors of the Dyson vacuum cleaners) are supposed to use up to 80% less energy than the usual “old style” air dryers. Therefore, the new addition should help the resort cut down on costs, assuming that they stand the test of the nearly continuous use in the public restrooms inside the park without too many technical problems and the initial acquisition costs are acceptable. Unfortunately there is also a downside: according to recent reports the Dyson Airblades are much louder than the originally used “old style” air dryers and can even be heared outside the restrooms thus impacting the guest experience not only positively.

They do a great job. We’ve experienced these dryers a few weeks ago in London for the first time. It’s a bit akward to put your hands into the dryer from the top. But the dryers dry your hands much faster.
Yeah, lots of places in the UK have these now, if you’ve not used one before it can be a bit odd, but they dry your hands brilliantly, because they create an air blade which basically squeegees the water off your hands instead of trying to evaporate it.
Is the reason they are louder is they do actually work. My success rate with hand dryers at DLP was less than 50%. Will these new dryers persaude more guests to wash their hands? In these day of swine flu I do hope so.
This is a positive step though and I hope the test is successful. More evidence that the guest experiance does matter to the DLP team
Great! In Japan, you can find those hand dryers almost everywhere, they work great!
