Changes for Annual Passports

Annual PassportAs is is already usual the Disneyland Resort Paris released a new AP flyer / brochure in early Paris to reflect the new pricing in place from April 4 till November 9, 2009 – and also to update the design of the brochure from the 15th anniversary design to the “Mickey’s Magical Party” theme of 2010. But are there any further changes worth noting?

First of all: the design of the actual APs was updated as well to be in line with the balloon design used for “Mickey’s Magical Party”, but there were changes to the AP program as well. The AP Francilien (available to all guests, despite the reference to the locality) increased in price by 10 Euro to 99,00 Euro just as the most expensive one, the AP Dream from 179,00 to 189,00 Euro, while the AP Fantasy staid unchanged (at 129,00 Euro) – for both, adults and children. The central concept of each AP (granting access depending on the type of AP on 300, 335 respectively 365 days per year to both theme parks) staid the same as the central extra benefits granted to AP holders with very few, but note-worthy details.

The first category which saw changes are discounts at the Disney Hotels. Last year AP Fantasy holders received 10% on selected dates while AP Dream holders received 10% year round and 30% on selected dates. The new brochure however announces for both AP types 20% discount from April 4 till November 9, 2009 (which is the last date the brochure is valid, so a new discount structure could be introduced with a new brochure in fall, but experience shows that a similar discount program most probably will remain in place, even so the acutal discount rate and conditions may change). As in the past AP Francilien holders are not offered any discounts at the Disney Hotels.

The second change can be found in the category parking. For AP Francilien holders can still buy a one year parking option for the main theme park parking lot for 24,00 Euro. Also unchanged is the offer for AP Fantasy holders: parking at the theme park parking lot is included. However, the offer for AP Dream holders has changed. While the 15ht anniversary design AP Dream included free parking on the theme park parking lot as well as at the Disney Hotel parking lots (with the exception of the parking lot of the Disneyland Hotel), the new AP Dream card only entitles holders to free parking at the theme park parking lot. AP Dream holders loved the special benefit of parking at the Disney Hotels and frequented in particular the parking lot of Disney’s Hotel New York because of its convenient location. Considering that the parking losts most days had empty spots left, cutting this benefit comes as a surprise, especially considering the impact of the current economic climate on hotel bookings in the resort. However, it was not uncommon that the Disney’s Hotel New York parking lot actually filled up to capacity due to AP Dream holders on certain busy days (such as New Year’s Eve), which may have prompted this policy change.
