Since the first day of previews in early 1992 the Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort Paris could pride itself with its security. While regular guests will rarely notice the security cast members once they have passed the initial bag check at the entrance to Fantasia Gardens, security (as well as health and fire rescure teams if necessary) are always ready to show up on short notice if needed. Differing from many other theme parks the resort never attempted a strategy of deterrence inside its theme parks. This even included the fact that there were rarely any security cameras on sight guests could have easily spotted – which was not only due to the fact that most cameras were placed far outside the sight lines of most guests and very well hidden / integrated into the themeing.
One of the main factors was also, that there number was strictly limited. However, this spring the resort seems to have made at least a partial change to this concept as various new security cameras were installed throughout the Disneyland Park, tha
t at least regular guests are able to notice comparably easy just due to their sheer number. However, the resort once again made sure that the cameras were installed as integral part of the themeing, so most regular guests will not notice them at all – such as the new security camera next to the Cool station sponsored by Coca Cola in Discoveryland. Regular guests should only notice a small satellite dish on a single column in the rear to the right of the Cool Station in the shot on the left. Regular guests might notice that what looks like a innocent themeing element has been installed only recently, so was retrofitted. But only an even closer look as in the partial enlargement on the right side shows that at the bottom of the upper structure holding the satellite dish a small security camera is located. Another new security camera is depicted in the first photo in this post – cleverly hidden at the bottom of a lamp dangling from the facade of Sir Mickey’s in Fantasyland.
