Walt Disney World’s very own PanoraMagique

panoramagique01The balloon ride, PanoraMagique, in the Disney village opened on 9 April 2005. The ballon can carry around up to 30 passengers 100 meters into the sky for a fantastic view of Disneyland Resort Paris. The ride heavily depends on good weather, once the wind is to strong or rain takes over the sky the balloon is grounded. Even so, when the clouds disappear the attraction becomes a popular ride for those adventurers not to feint at heart. With the success story in France  a new version is opening in Walt Disney World. Its counterpart under the name “Characters in Flight” will open on April 1st in Downtown Disney.

The new version has a new decorative look. This time different Disney characters are added on the balloon while the Paris version only has Tinkerbell on the balloon. In the Walt Disney World version you will find those “flying” characters like Peter Pan, Dumbo, Mary Poppins, among some others. This balloon’s main colors are Red on the smaller lower half and Yellow with the figures showing in a silhouette on the top half. A different look from the red and yellow stripped with a blue decorative lower part from the Paris version.

The Balloon in WDW will reach a 400 feet hight or about 120 meters. This of course when weather conditions allow it. Also the wind speeds will put some conditions on the flight experience.

3mph or less, flight with 20 passengers
3mph to 12mph, flight with 10 to 20 passengers
12mph to 22mph, flight with 10 passengers
22mph or storm conditions, no flight

Opening times for the WDW attraction are

Sunday to Thursday: 10:30 am to 11pm
Friday and Saturday: 10:30am to 12am

It’s nice to know, for Disneyland Resort Paris fans, that our beloved park was the first to offer this experience making it a success they now want to repeat at Walt Disney World.

So if you’re either in Disneyland Resort Paris or Walt Disney World… enjoy your flight!

Thank you for mentioning me! I will be there tomorrow to see if it goes in the air.

I have used your site when visiting DLP, I never did get up on the balloon in Paris but I did take photos of it flying.
