Right next to the huge barn that houses the Cowboy Cookout Barbecue, a small petting zoo (themed to a farm from the Wild West) can be found. Here you can discover some true farm animals like ducks, hens and cows. Your children may get into direct contact with those animals - a unique experience especially if you are from a big city and your children don't grow up with farms and animals.

Walt Disney once remarked, that one of the most important times in his life was his childhood in the small town of Marceline, Missouri. There, you grew up at his father's farm. While his parents and his three older brothers worked hard, Walt and his younger sister enjoyed their childhood in such an enviroment. According to legend, it was here when Walt discovered his interest in drawing. And if you take a look at his early cartoons, you will notice the many farm animals like cows, horses, pigs, ducks, cats, rabbits, dogs and mice.
After a severe illness, Walt's father Elias was forced to sell the Disney's farm and moved with his family to Kansas City. There, Walt would eventually visit high school and start a professional career in animation.

Walt Disney erwähnte einmal, dass eine der wichtigsten Perioden seines Lebens seine Kindheit in der kleinen Stadt Marceline in Missouri war. Hier wuchs er auf der Farm seines Vaters auf. Während seine Eltern und seine drei älteren Brüder hart arbeiteten, konnten Walt und seine jüngere Schwester ihre Kindheit in einer solch glücklichen Umgebung genießen. Legenden zu Folge entdecke Walt hier seine Liebe zum Zeichnen. Und wenn man sich seine frühen Cartoons ansieht, so bemerkt man doch die vielen Farmtiere wie Kühe, Pferde, Schweine, Enten, Katzen, Hasen, Hunde und eben Mäuse.
Nach schwerer Krankheit jedoch musste Walts Vater Elias die Farm der Disneys verkaufen und zog mit seiner Familie nach Kansas City. Dort sollte Walt schließlich die High School besuchen und eine professionelle Karriere im Zeichentrickfilm beginnen.
