As guests wander their way up Main Street USA
upon entering the park for the first (or even 21) time they cannot help
gazing at the beautiful castle ahead of them. A symbol of all that the
park stands for
"Le Chateau de
la Belle au Bois Dormant" represents the make believe fantasy world
that is "The Magic Kingdom". As well as being the parks most famous
icon, it also forms the entrance into the section of the park based
upon Disney's classic fairy tale films "Fantasyland".
Wandering through the castle guests can
gaze up to the roof, Held up by huge columns carved into the shape of
trees they somehow seem to sparked as if they were designed by magic.
Here in the gallery guests can also view the fabulous tapestries and
stained glass windows based upon Disney's classic film Sleeping Beauty,
Before passing out onto a balcony which offers a panoramic view of Fantasyland.
Behind the castle guests pass into a
courtyard which includes an anvil in to which the magic sword "Excalibur"
is embedded. This forms the centrepiece of a
seasonal show which is performed
here featuring none other than Merlin the Magician.
Just beyond "Excalibur" is a beautiful
carrousel
that features finely carved horses which gallop around accompanied to
music from Disney's classic films.
The whole design of Fantasyland was strongly
influenced by European architecture including beautiful tiled roof cottages
with wooden rafters and gables that look straight from the pages of
a story book.
Surrounding the cottages beautifully
manicured landscaping includes perfectly shaped topiaries and colourful
flower beds, The winding cobblestone paths lead in all directions towards
different storybook adventures.
Take a ride into the stories of
Snow White,
Pinnochio,
or even aboard a magical floating galleon with
Peter Pan,
These are just a few of the attractions to enjoy. Others include a
hedge maze
themed around Alice in Wonderland and a boat trip through intricately
detailed models of some of the worlds most famous fairy tales.
One of the reasons Fantasyland is so
popular amongst younger visitors is that it is one of the best places
to meet the famous Disney characters in person. Everyone from Mickey
to Cinderella, The Queen of Hearts to Pluto can be found on occasion
wandering around the area. Be sure to carry a camera with you because
you can never be sure who you will meet next.
Another place you can see you favourite
Disney characters is towards the back of the land at the "Fantasyland
Stage" here guests can enjoy shows featuring many of Disney's on screen
stars.

Storyteller".
