With its gleaming spheres orbiting hypnotically around a central tower it’s not hard to see where this attraction got its
name, that sits right in front of the Space Mountain as guests enter
Discoveryland from the Central Plaza.Inspired by the futuristic drawings of such visionaries as Leonardo da Vinci and their working models for planet-systems Orbitron offers guests the chance to pilot their own rocket ship among the planets, represented by the moving and turning spheres. Once the "carrousel" style ride begins to turn each guest can control the rise and fall of their rocket with the use of the small lever within each ship - to race right toward on of the planets and duck away in the last second... At the rides highest point guests can enjoy a great view of Discoveryland and onwards to the rest of the park. The views become even more stunning at night when all of Discoveryland is dramatically lit with dozens of neon lights. While technically similar in design to "Dumbo The Flying Elephant" the space ships not only rise higher above the ground as Dumbo, but also move faster around. In combination with the moving model of a planet system above the heads of the space travellers this not only is a stunning sight for other guests (especially in the evening hours) but also a different experience. |

seinen Kupfern glänzenden Kugeln, die in einem Orbit um den
zentralen Turm kreisen, ist es nicht schwierig zu erraten, woher der
Name dieser Attraktion kommen könnte, die Gäste, die Discoveryland
von der Central Plaza aus betreten vor dem Space Mountain empfängt.Inspiriert von den Zeichnungen solcher Visionäre wie Leonardo da Vinci und ihrer Modelle der Planetensysteme bietet Orbitron seinen Gäste die Chance ihr eigenes Raumschiff zwischen den Planeten hindurchzusteuern, die von den sich drehenden und kreisenden Kugeln verkörpert werden. Sowie das "Karussell" sich zu drehen beginnt, kann jeder Gast den Aufstieg und Fall seines Schiffs mittels eines kleinen Steuerknüppels selbst steuern - um so auf die Planeten zu zurasen und sich erst in letzter Sekunde unter ihnen weg zuducken... Vom höchsten Punkt der Fahrt aus eröffnet sich ein großartiger Blick über das Discoveryland und Teile des übrigen Parks, der sogar noch beeindruckender ist, wenn gegen Abend das ganze Discoveryland mit Dutzenden Neonlichtern futuristisch erstrahlt. Obwohl technisch mit "Dumbo The Flying Elephant" nah verwandt, steigen die Raumschiffe höher in den Himmel und kreisen sehr viel schneller als Dumbo. Zusammen mit dem sich bewegenden Modell des Planetensystems über den Köpfend er Raumfahrer ergibt das nicht nur für die Gäste am Boden ein beeindruckendes Bild (besonders in den Abendstunden) sondern auch ein ganz anderes Erlebnis. |

at Dumbo
the Orbitron-queues move slowly, but rarely grow to the same length as
at its Fantasyland counterpart due mainly to Dumbo’s massive appeal to young
visitors. It’s fair to say if guests enjoy one they should enjoy the other, too. Those who decide to ride both should thereby save Orbitron for later in the evening. |

not only cruise through the space between the planets of the large
modell on Orbitron, but also can choose to do so in the spaceship of
their Zodiac sign, which are depicted on the ground in front of the
spaceships (and are also adorning several stones in the waiting-area).
This "space twirl" was presented by the French bank BNP Baripas from 1992 till 2002 - but as a new sign with a quote from Leonardo da Vinci has replaced the original sponsors sign, this is impossible to tell for today's guests. |
Gäste
können hier nicht nur durch das Weltall zwischen den Planeten des
Orbitron-Modells fliegen - sie können dies auch noch im Raumschiff
ihres Sternzeichen tun. Die Sternzeichen sind im Boden vor den Schiffen
eingelassen (und auch auf einigen Steinen im Wartebereich zu sehen).
Dieser "Wirbel durch das All" wurde von 1992 bis 2002 von der französischen Bank "BNP Baripas" präsentiert - doch ist das heute nicht mehr festzustellen, da ein neues Schild mit einem Zitate von Leonardo da Vinci den ehemaligen Sponsoren-Hinweis ersetzt hat. |
