Disney Village Construction 2004/5


This shot from a raised viewpoint shows very good how the future parking structure for the Village is filling the gap between the Village and the Studios but also how it is placed on top of the railway that runs underneath it...	Von diesem erhöhten Standpunkt aus ist sehr gut zu sehen, wie das zukünftige Parkhause des Village die Lücke zwischen dem Village und den Studios füllt, aber auch wie es über den Bahngleisen errichtet wird...	... which means there is no underground parking - raising the question how intrusive the structure will be from inside the studios, at least till the gap between the Studio Theatre and the Disney Channel is filled. Seen here are the forms for the ground level walls.	... daher wird es keine Untergeschosse geben - wie weit wird damit das Gebäude den Eindruck in den Studios beeinflussen bis die Baulücke zwischen dem Studio Theatre und dem Disney Channel geschlossen ist? Zu sehen sind hier die Formen für die Erdgeschosswände.


In the last month work has made quiet some progress - the ceiling of the ground floor is up and columns on the next floor start rising...	Ein Monat später - die Decke des Erdgeschosses steht und darauf entstehen Säulen des folgenden Geschosses...	... as a closer view reveals. By the way: the dirt road in the front leads toward the roundabout behind the Gaumont Cinemas.	... wie ein naherer Blick zeigt. Übrigens: der Bauweg im Vordergrund führt zum Kreisverkehr hinter den Gaumont Kinos.	It is interesting to note how the structure grows toward the WDS on the right side of the track, too, leaving only enough of a gap for a road and some trees.	Schön zu sehen hier, wie weit das Gebäude in Richtung der WDS rechts der Bahnlinie wächst - dort bleibt gerade noch Raum für eine Straße.

A lot has been said already about the invasion of reality into the WDS due to the parking structure looming large in the background, visible from the Production Courtyard. Here is a shot of the open space between Cinemagique and the Disney Channel Studios which opens directly toward the future parking structure. Right now only the cranes and a few elements are poking above the wall (which is actually just a temporary fence) closing of the Courtyard.

Vieles wurde darüber gesagt, dass das Parkhaus und mit ihm die reale Welt zukünftig in die WDS eindringen werden, wird es doch vom Park aus sichtbar sein - vorallem auf dem Production Courtyard. Hier nun ein Photo der Baulücke zwischen Cinemagique und den Disney Channel Studios, die direkt zu dem Parkhaus zeigt. Bisher sind nur die Kräne und erste Elemente zu sehen, die über die Mauer (die eigentlich ein temporärer Zaun ist) ragen, die den Platz abschirmt.


Even so far from complete this groundlevel view of what should be one of or next to one of the walkways connecting the new parking structure with the plaza in front of the RER station shows how high the structure will actually look like.	Obwohl noch lange nicht fertiggestellt, zeigt diese Aufnahme aus normaler Augenhöhe ungefähr aus dem Bereich eines der zukünftigen Wege zwischen dem Parkhaus und dem Platz vor dem Bahnhof, wie hoch das Gebäude wirken wird.	A photo from an elevated view on the other hand reveals that in the meantime the outer walls should have reached the height of the ceiling of the third floor (or second if one doesn't cound the ground floor).	Aus einer etwas höheren Perspektive ist zu erkennen, dass die Außenwände nunmehr ungefähr die Deckenhöhe des dritten Stockwerkes (bzw. des zweiten, zählt man das Erdgeschoss nicht) erreicht haben.


The parking structure has reached its top height and color tests have started on the facade next to the staircase of the building. With the currently chosen colors the building should blend in rather well with the Walt Disney Studios structures easing the intrusion factor slightly.	Das neue Parkhaus hat seine maximale Höhe erreicht und erste Farbtests an der Fassade neben dem Treppenhaus haben begonnen. Mit den momentan gewählten Farben passt sich das Gebäude den Walt Disney Studios ein, so dass es weniger auffällig sein dürfte als befürchtet.	So scheduled for opening in early 2005 only signs directing future traffic to the parking structure of the Disney Village has already sprung up. According to this it will be called "Ventury 1". Note the little company logo above the name reading "Vinci" - this is the company operating the new parking structure.	Obwohl die Eröffnung erst für Anfang 2005 vorgesehen ist, tauchen schon die ersten Verkehrsleitschilder auf, die Gäste zu dem neuen Parkhaus leiten sollen. Demnach wird es den Namen "Ventury 1" tragen. Interessant auch das kleine Logo über dem Namen des Gebäudes - "Vinci" ist die Betreiberfirma des Parkhauses.


This is the view of the parking structure's front as seen from the entrance of the Studios. Most propably this wide walkway will provide access for guests in the future.	Hier zu sehen ist die Front des Parkhauses vom Eingangsbereich der Studios aus. In Zukunft wird der breite Weg wohl den Gästen als einer der Hauptwege dienen.	A few steps down the walkway shows a current CM-only entrance to the backstage of the Studios, showing how close they are to the parking structure.	Einige Schritte den Weg entlang findet sich zur Zeit ein CM-Eingang in den Backstage-Bereich der Studios. Dies zeigt, wie nah das Parkhaus an den WDS sitzt.

While the sides are open and allo light to flood into the parking levels, the front facing the main plaza between the parks is a massiv, closed wall that calls for themeing or some other way to divert attention.	Während die Seiten offen sind und Licht in die Parkebenen lassen ist die Front hin zur Haupt-Plaza zwischen den Parks eine einzige große Wand, die Themeing oder anderer Ablenkungen bedarf.	While the basic structure in the front part seemed mostly finished, the cranes have moved further to the back, where another half of the parking structure is now raising up to the same height.	Nachdem der Rohbau im vorderen Bereich scheinbar fast abgeschlossen ist, wurden die Kräne nun weiter nach hinten verschoben, wo die zweite Hälfte des Parkhauses langsam wächst.

Finally work for the IMAX?? While this photo only shows some equipment on what would be the site of the theater...	Endlich arbeiten für das IMAX?? Zwar zeigt dieses Photo nur Gerätschaften auf dem Gelände für das zukünftige Theater...	... a view from further a top revelas that work indeed started in the area, with what looks like further ground preperation!	... doch aus anderem Blickwinkel zeigt sich, dass wirklich neue Arbeiten stattfinden, wohl zur Vorbereitung des Bodens!


The new crane spotted already last weekend is a bit more towering than the original photo might have made believe - it is even visible from inside the Disneyland Park!	Der "neue" Kran, der vergangenes Wochenende entdeckt wurde, ragt höher auf, als es in dem ersten Photo erscheint - so ist er sogar aus dem Disneyland Park sichtbar!	But the crane is necessary, as work progresses with near light-speed. As this photo shows, behind the construction walls a first wall is already going up, while earth is still moved around.	Der Kran ist aber auch nötig für die Arbeiten mit nahezu Lichtgeschwindigkeit. Wie hier zu sehen, wächst schon die erste Wand, während davor die Bagger noch arbeiten.

From a higher point of view it can be seen, that the "new" wall is being errected right adjacent to the smaller building already in place. The dredger in the meantime seems to actually work at adding an extra layer to the ground.	Von einem höheren Standpunkt aus ist zu erkennen, dass die "neue" Mauer direkt neben dem schon bestehenden kleinen Gebäude entsteht, während der Bagger scheinbar das Bodenniveau in einem Teilbereich anhebt.	There has been a lot of talking about the intrusion of the the visibility of the new parking structure from the Production Courtyard. But even before the "Studio"-like color is added it is not too bad...	Viel wurde darüber gesprochen, wie auffällig das neue Parkhaus für Gäste auf dem Production Courtyard sein würde. Doch selbst vor dem Anstrich in den "Studio"-Farben scheint nicht der schlimmste Fall eingetreten zu sein.

As can be seen here the rear part of the parking structure is rising up just as fast as the front part did - the opening isn't planned before the end of the year officially anyway.		Wie zu sehen ist, wächst der hintere Teil des Parkhauses genauso schnell wie der vordere heran - dennoch ist offiziell die Eröffnung erst für Ende des Jahres geplant.


The parking structure for the Disney Village has made major progress in the last 1 1/2 months, but work on the structure itself still continues ...	Trotz deutlichen Fortschrittes beim Bau des Parkhauses für das Disney Village in den letzten 1 1/2 Monaten dauern die Arbeiten an.	This view from the main road behind the Village will also be seen by future guests using the structure. Note that the structure is not yet painted.	Diesen Anblick von der Straße hinter dem Village wird sich zukünftigen Nutzern des Parkhauses bieten. Noch ist dieses aber nicht gestrichen.

The columns with the wide open space in between on this side of the future IMAX building indicate that it could be the entrance facade. In that case it would hace foward the Studios / the parking structure.	Die Säulen und großen offenen Zwischenräume lassen vermuten, dass hier die zukünftige Eingangs-Fassade des IMAX entsteht. Diese wäre demnach in Richtung der Studios / des Parkhauses offen.	This more closed looking facade on the other hand is facing the main traffic road behind the Village, on which guests ride to the future parking structure (see view of that from nearly the same viewing point just turned 180 degree around.	Diese geschlossenere Fassade ist von der Straße hinter dem Disney Village zu sehen, die auch zum Parkhaus führt. Von nahezu dem selben Standpunkt, nur um 180 Grad gedreht entstand übrigens der Blick auf das Parkhaus oben.

As the walls of the future IMAX theater and its lobby rose up quite fast there isn't much to see from this elevated viewing piont right now.		Nachdem die Wände des zukünftigen IMAX Theaters und seiner Lobby recht schnell wachsen, ist von diesem erhöhten Standpunkt nicht mehr viel zu erkennen.


The painting of the exterior of the parking structure has made major progress.	Der Anstrich der Fassade des Parkhauses hat deutliche Fortschritte gemacht.	New is a sign announcing the construction of a new promenade as access to the theme parks.	Neu ist dieses Schild, dass eine Promenade als weiterer Zugang zu den Themenparks gebaut wird.


And right in front of the IMAX, straight off the roundabout toward the Disneyland Hotel is where the promenade will be constructed.	Direkt vor dem IMAX, abgehend von dem Kreisel in gerader Linie auf das Disneyland Hotel wird die Promenade entstehen.	The side walls of the IMAX are up already higher than the front, where huge scaffoldings hint that it will be a rather elaborate facade.	Die Seitenwände stehen noch höher als die Frontfassade, vor der zahlreiche Gerüste auf eine aufwendigere Arbeit hindeuten.


The streeting taking cars to the future Disney Village Parking Structure will be prolonged by a wide pedestrian walkway right to the Fantasia Gardens, as seen here.	Die Straße, auf der die PKW in das zukünftige Disney Village Parkhaus gelangen werden, wird optisch durch eine breite Fußgängerzone bis direkt zu den Fantasia Gardens verlängert.	Work has progressed so far, that the former walkway from the Plaza in front of the train station with the gates has been closed off, so that the new walkway can be connected.	Die Arbeiten sind schon so weit fortgeschritten, dass der bisherige Weg zwischen der Plaza vor der RER-Station mit dem Torbogen geschlossen wurde, um die neue Verbindung herzustellen.

Work on the Parking Structure progresses fine at the same time too. The lamp post illuminating the open-air parking on the top level of the structure can be seen clearly here - this level will open interesting views in the future, e.g. into the Studios.	Die Arbeiten am Parkhaus kommen ebenfalls gut voran. Auf diesem Photo sind die Laternen gut zu erkennen, die die Parkfläche auf dem "Dach" des Parkhauses illuminieren werden - von dem aus sich interessante Einsichten eröffnen sollten.	As additional buildings are to be constructed right at the front of the parking structure facing toward the Fantasia Gardens no "windows" have been broken into the walls. Instead painters add a fake facade for the time till construction starts.	Da weitere Gebäude direkt vor dem Parkhaus in Richtung Fantasia Gardens später errichtet werden sollen, finden sich hier keine "Fenster" in den Wänden. Zur Überbrückung der Zeit bis zum Baubeginn wird nun eine falsche Fassade aufgemalt.

The facade facing away from the Studios is nearly finished and the surrounding walkways, streets and gardens are now being prepared.		Die den Studios abgewendete Fassade ist nahezu fertiggestellt. Nunmehr werden die Wege, Straßen und Anpflanzungen vorbereitet.

The IMAX structure "behind" the Gaumont multiplex should have reached nearly its final hight - but still a lot of work on the facade and the interior remains.	Das IMAX-Gebäude "hinter" dem Gaumont Multiplex sollte nahezu seine endgültige Höhe erreicht haben - im Inneren und an der Fassade ist aber noch einiges zu tun.	This labyrinth of scaffolding shows, that a lot of work remains before the carpeting, seats, the screen or the projectors can be brough on side - especially as the roof is still missing.	Das Labyrinth an Gerüsten deutet an, wieviel noch zu tun ist, bis Sitze und Teppichböden, Leinwand und Projektoren angeliefert werden können - zumal auch das Dach noch fehlt.


The four level parking structure has finally opened it's gates!	Das vierstöckige Parkhaus hat endlich seine Schranken geöffnet!	Seen here is the main drive into the structure.	Hier die Haupteinfahrt in das Gebäude.

The area around the roundabout through which guests have to access the structure has been redone - in the background the former parking lot.	Der Bereich rund um den Kreisverkehr, der zu dem Parkhaus führt wurde neu angelegt - im Hintergrund übrigens der alte Parkplatz.	As necessary for year round operation the staricases are enclosed with glass-windows even so it does not look like this from a distance.	Wegen des Betriebes bei Wind und Wetter sind die Treppenhäuser verglast, auch wenn das aus einiger Entfernung anders wirkt.

Each of the four level of the parking structure has been assigned a graphic ...	Jeder der vier Parkebenen wurde eine Graphic / ein Emblem zugewiesen ...	... to help you remember where you parked. Each drawing is done in a dominating color.	... als Hilfe bei der Suche nach dem Auto. Jede Zeichnung ist in einer Hauptfarbe ausgeführt.

The huge drawings are placed opposite or near the elevators and next to the staircases.	Die Gemälde finden sich an den Treppenhäusern und gegenüber oder bei den Aufzügen.	Each of the drawings shows one of the offers of the Disney Village: food, entertainment, movies and Buffalo Bill.	Jede Graphik zeigt eines der Angebote des Disny Village: Speisen, Unterhaltung, Kinos und Buffalo Bill.

Leading from Fantasia Gardens to the new parking structure is a newly paved promenade.	Eine neu gepflasterte Promenade führt von den Fantasia Gardens zu dem Parkhaus.	But the promenade is lined with construction fences, behind which there is still plenty to clean up.	Gesäumt wird die Promenade von Bauzäunen, hinter denen es noch einiges aufzuräumen gibt.

Where the promenade meets the walkway leading to the main entrance of the Studios the four directions of the sky are shown on the floor.	Wo die Promenade auf den Weg zum Eingang der Studios trifft, sind die vier Himmelsrichtungen im Boden eingelassen.	Certainly new signage had to be put up too...	Natürlich waren auch neue Wegweiser notwendig...

Later on the promenade will also lead to the still under construction IMAX theater.	Später wird die Promenade auch zu dem noch in Bau befindlichen IMAX führen.	This is the front of the IMAX theater. Where the many scaffoldings are standing now a huge open glass facade will be installed later.	Das ist die Front des IMAX-Theaters. Wo jetzt noch die zahlreichen Gerüste stehen, wird später eine Glasfassade die Gäste einladen.


Cars come down the road heading straight for the Disneyland Hotel which ends in the roundabout seen here. The fenced off construction area on the left would be where the promenade would meet with teh roundabout by the way.	Die Wagen kommen die gerade Straße entlang direkt auf das Disneyland Hotel zu und treffen dabei auf den Kreisverkehr. Die Baustelle am linken Bildrand ist übrigens die Position, an der die Promenade auf den Kreisel treffen würde.	Currently only one public road but the one leading to the highway go off the roundabout: the one connecting the new parking structure. Note the IMAX construction in the background.	Zur Zeit geht nur eine öffentliche Straße außer der zur Autobah führenden von dem Kreisel ab: die Zu- und Abfahrt des Parkhauses. Im Hintergrund übrigens wieder die IMAX-Baustelle.

Seen here one of the parking levels. Looks pretty normal.	Hier eine der Parkebenen. Wirkt ganz normal eben, oder?	The top level is not covered and has lampposts scattered over it. Again in the background the IMAX which is only slightly higher than the Gaumont building.	Die höchste Ebene ist nicht überdacht, aber mit Straßenlaternen ausgestattet. Im Hintergrund wiederum das IMAX, das kaum höher als das Gauimont-Gebäude ist.

Parking is not as expensive as some might expect it to be - but unfortunately no free parking for AP-holders!	Die Parkgebühren sind nichteinmal so hoch - allerdings ist kein kostenloses Parken mit der Jahreskarte möglich	The walkway leading off the promenade to the entrance of the parking structure is not paved - messy on rainy days...	Der Verbindungsweg von der Promenade zum Parkhaus ist nicht gepflastert - an regnerischen Tagen ein Ärgernis...

... but hopefully this will change when the promenade is finished - which will happen as soon as the IMAX construction is finished. The construction fences show that currently the walkway bends away from the straight way of the promenade.	... das sollte sich jedoch ändern, wenn die Promenade fertiggestellt wird - also nach Beendigung der Arbeiten am IMAX. Noch biegt der Weg von dem geraden Plan der Promenade schräg ab, wie die Bauzäune schon zeigen.	The promenade can not yet go all the way to the roundabout as the area in front of the IMAX is still necessary to store some of the cosntruction material for that theater. Also note the huge opening in the scaffolding forest in the right corner of the facade.	Die Promenade kann noch nicht bis zum Kreisel führen, da der Raum vor dem IMAX noch zur Zwischenlagerung der Baumaterialien für das Theater benötigt wird. Man beachte übrigens die große Öffnung in dem Gerüstwald rechts in der Fassade.

This shot of the area between the parkign structure and Fantasia Gardens to the left of the promenade shows, that there is a second walkway going off the Studios' Entrance Plaza which could connect to the parking structure in the future.		Diese Aufnahme der Fläche vor dem Parkhaus links der Promenade zeigt, dass schon alles vorbereitet ist, um theoretisch später einen zweiten Weg vom Eingangsplatz der Studios zum Parkhaus anzulegen.

Note that there is a fence on the top of the parking structure where it sits above the train tracks.	Man beachte den Zaun auf dem Parkhaus in dem Bereich über den Eisenbahnschienen. In the lower part of the promenade everything is nearly finished, pavements, lamp posts even planters are in place!	Im vorderen Bereich der Promenade ist fast alles fertig gestellt: Pflaster, Laternen, sogar die Plfanzanlagen!	The IMAX as seen across the promenade ... work on the structure still continues at full pace.	Das IMAX schräg über die Promenade gesehen - die Arbeiten am Rohbau dauern an.


A fence is closing off the area of the Adventure Parcours that has been dismantled already again after not even one year - also gone is the landing for the rent boats.	Ein Bauzaun trennt den Bereich des ehemaligen Adventure Parcours ab, der nach nichteinmal einem Jahr wieder verschwunden ist - auch abgebaut wurde der Steg für die Mietboote.	But the latter has just been moved around the corner of the shore - as in its former place soon the landing platform for a balloon will be installed that offers guest's a bird's eye view of the resort.	Doch wurde letzterer nur umgesetzt, da an seiner Stelle bald die Plattform für einen Ballon zu finden sein soll, der Gästen einen Blick aus der Vogelperspektive auf das Resort bieten wird.
