It was a question of time - well, it IS a question of time. With spring slowly but surely making room for summer the crews have finally arrived in the Walt Disney Studios for some sprucing up ahead of high season. The "Les Parapluies de Cherbourg" set (often mistaken for a "Dancin' in the Rain" set because of the umbrella and rain effect, even so the original set from the French movie musical that inspired the set in the park can be seen in a scene of Cinemagique) has been hidden behind construction walls for a rehab. As can be seen right above the construction walls the parts of the facade with the shop's name has been taken down.
But more importantly for most guest: the Studio Tram Tour has been closed for a rehab as announced earlier this year. Differing from the original announcement still included in the park maps handed out to guests the attraction will not reopen on May 28th but only on June the 4th. No details yet on the exact work going on there.

Es war nur eine Frage der Zeit - d.h. es IST eine Frage der Zeit. Der Frühling macht langsam aber sicher PLatz für den Sommer und endlich kommen die Crews auch in den Walt Disney Studios an, um den Park vor der Hochsaison nochmals etwas aufzupolieren. Zur Zeit ist die Kulisse aus "Les Parapluies de Cherbourg" (die wegen des Regenschirms mit automatischer Berieselung oft für eine Kulisse aus "Dancin' in the Rain" gehalten wird, obwohl das Originalset aus dem französischen Filmmusical, das für die Kulisse als Vorlage diente, in einer Szene von Cinemagique zu sehen ist) hinter einem Bauzaun verborgen. Wie über den Zaun zu erkennen ist, wurde der Teil der Fassade mit dem Namenszug des Geschäfts entfernt.
Bedeutsamer für die Gäste ist aber: auch die Studio Tram Tour wurde für eine Überholung geschlossen - wie bereits Anfang des Jahres angekündigt. Allerdings wird die Attraktion nicht am 28. Mai wieder öffnen, wie es auch noch immer in den Parkplänen heißt, die an die Gäste verteilt werden. Stattdessen werden die Arbeiten sich bis einschließlich dem 3. Juni hinziehen. Was genau dabei geschieht? Das ist noch nicht bekannt.

Winter is gone and summer is here - not only the blooming flowers all over the resort and the reopened Marina, where guests can rent boats to explore Lake Disney, indicate this without question, but also the return of the cheap looking up-charge carnival rides to the Disney Village area. Already in early April small electro cars for the youngest guests were placed in front of the Gaumont movie theater. Now the up-charge carnival-mini-rides are showing up in front of Disney's Hotel New York too. Where in winter an ice skating rink is the center of the Rockefeller Plaza guests can now ride "crazy bikes" and just a few meters away, across the promenade surrounding Lake Disney, on the terrace right at its shore, a water bassin has been put in place again. As last year it most propably will be used for plastic-boats which the youngest guests can power by turning the water wheels on both sides to ride in the shallow waters of the mini-pool as seen in our photo from 2004 - after their parents paid for the extra fun.

Der Winter ist vorbei und der Sommer ist - das beweisen ganz eindeutig die blühenden Pflanzen im gesamten Resort ebenso, wie die wieder eröffnete Marina, an der Gäste diverse Boote mieten können, um den Lake Disney zu erkunden. Ein weiteres Indiz ist auch die Rückkehr der billig wirkenden, nur gegen zusätzliche Gebühr nutzbaren Mini-Rummel-Attraktionen im Bereich des Disney Village. Schon Anfang April fanden sich kleine Elektroautos für die jüngsten Gäste direkt vor dem Gaumont Kino, doch nun tauchen die "Attraktionen" auch wieder vor Disney's Hotel New York auf. Anstelle der Eislaufbahn im Zentrum der Rockefeller Plaza können Gäste sich nun mit "Crazy Bikes" ("Verrückte (Fahr-)Räder") die Zeit vertreiben und nur wenige Meter weiter, auf der anderen Seite der Promenade, die den Lake Disney umrundet, auf der Terasse an seinem Ufer wurde wieder ein flaches Wasserbecken errichtet. Wie im vergangenen Jahr wird es wohl wieder für Plastik-Boote genutzt, in denen die jüngsten Gäste angetrieben von den beiden Schaufelrädern an den Seiten, die sie mit Handkurbeln bedienen, durch das flache Wasser schippern können, wie in unserem Photo aus dem vergangenen Jahr zu sehen - natürlich nachdem ihre Eltern eine Extra-Gebühr gezahlt haben.

According to news from several sources the paddle steamer Molly Brown on the Rivers of the Far West caught fire during normal operation around 11.20 am on Monday 16th. All guests (roughly 250) were evacuated successfuly from the boat by means of the Keelboats (which are no longer used but still kept operational and can be freely steered on the waterways) and inflatable boats the firemen of the resort brought in. The boat was located between the docks at the rear of the Rivers of the Far West and Phantom Manor / Geysir Country when the accident happened. As a precaution management closed down all of Frontierland immediately and evacuated all guests from the land and its attractions. This also allowed the necessary examinations of the incident to move forward swiftly.
The fire was extinguished shortly by the firemen of the resort who got extra support from the firemen of the stations surrounding the resort which all rushed in by means of the backstage road leading along the perimeter of Frontierland to the parking lot in front of the costuming building. But even then there was at least one report that still spoke of heavy smoke visible from outside Frontierland as late 1.30 pm. After initially two different lines of speculation regarding the scope of damage (one that the Molly Brown would be heavily damaged, the other that it never really caught fire but only heavy smoke was caused in the motor area) latest reports indicate that the top level with the steering cab may be totally destroyed or even the interior of the whole boat has been burned out. First word has come out pointing to a technical defect as the cause of the fire. This is further strengthened by the report of the French daily Le Parisien which points out that the fire started in the engine room.
According from reports that reached us at 3.00 pm Frontierland and its attractions (with the exception of the paddle steamers) had been reopened by that time already. The Disneyland Railroad is said to have been closed all day as firemen where positioned next to the tracks in Frontierland in case the fire might reignite on the Molly Brown. But the decision might also be influenced by the desire of the management to prevent guests from taking any photos of the Molly Brown. According to Le Parisien the management even (successfuly) requested from the operators of Panoramagique to suspend operation to prevent guests from taking aerial photos of the fire.
The guests which were onboard of the paddle-steamer were brought into the Lucky Nugget Saloon where medical teams checked them for injuries especially relating to inhalation of the heavy smoke. While original no injuries had been reported, Le Parisien now says that 9 guests were admitted into the hospital of Lagny-sur-Marne due to inhalation of smoke but could later leave the hospital after a complete check.

Laut Meldungen aus verschiedenen Quellen kam es an Bord des Rad-Dampfers Molly Brown auf den Rivers of the Far West während des Betriebs am Montag den 16. gegen 11.20 Uhr zu einem Feuer. Alle ca. 250 Gäste wurden sicher evakuiert unter Einsatz der Keelboats (die zwar nicht mehr als Attraktion in Betrieb sind, aber noch immer einsatzbereit sind und frei auf dem Gewässer gesteuert werden können) sowie von Schlauchbooten, die die Feuerwehr des Resort mit sich führte. Die Molly Brown befand sich im Bereich zwischen den Docks am hinteren Ende der Rivers of the Far West und Phantom Manor / den Geysiren, als es zu dem Zwischenfall kam. Als Vorsichtsmaßnahme schloss das Management Frontierland umgehend und evakuierte alle Gäste aus dem Land und den Attraktionen. So konnten auch die notwendigen Untersuchungen und Überprüfungen problemlos vorgenommen werden.
Das Feuer wurde bereits nach Minuten gelöscht, wobei die umliegenden Feuerwehren den Feuermännern des Disneyland Resort Paris sofort zu Hilfe eilten über die Backstage-Straße, die entlang der äußeren Begrenzung des Frontierlands zum Parkplatz vor dem Costuming Gebäude führt. Allerdings meldete eine Quelle noch um 13.30 Uhr, von außerhalb des Frontierlands sei heftige Rauchentwicklung zu sehen. Anfangs existieren zwei verschiedene Spekulationen: zum einen hieß es, die Molly Brown sei eventuell schwer beschädigt, zum anderen, sie habe nie wirklich Feuer gefangen, es sei lediglich im Motorbereich zu einer schweren Rauchentwicklung gekommen. Neueren Berichten zu Folge hat das Feuer jedoch den Führerstand auf der obersten Ebene der Molly Brown vollständig zerstört, teilweise heißt es auch, das Innere des gesamten Boots sei ausgebrannt. Laut ersten Berichten könnte ein technischer Defekt Ursache des Brandes / der Rauchentwicklung gewesen sein. Das wird auch durch den Bericht der Tageszeitung Le Parisien gestützt, laut dem das Feuer im Maschinenraum ausbrach.
Ausgehend von Berichten, die uns um 15.00 Uhr erreichten, waren Frontierland und seine Attraktionen (mit Ausnahme der Rad-Dampfer) zu diesem Zeitpunkt wieder geöffnet. Lediglich die Disneyland Railroad blieb den gesamten Tag über geschlossen, da an der Bahnstrecke nahe der Geysire Feuerwehrleute positioniert wurden, falls das Feuer an Bord der Molly Brown nochmals aufflammen sollte. Die Entscheidung könnte allerdings auch von einem Interesse des Managements getragen worden sein, es möglichst zu verhindern, dass Gäste Photos der Molly Brown nach dem Feuer machen. So berichtet Le Parisien doch auch, dass das Management (erfolgreich) die Betreiber von Panoramagique um die Einstellung des Betriebs bat, um so zu verhindern, dass Luftaufnahmen des Feuers gemacht werden.
Die Gäste, die sich an Bord des Bootes befanden wurden lin den Lucky Nugget Saloon gebracht, wo sie von medizinischen Team vor allem in Hinblick auf Rauchvergiftungen untersucht wurden. Nachdem anfangs keine Verletzungen gemeldet waren, heißt es nun bei Le Parisien, dass 9 Gäste zur näheren Untersuchung in das Krankenhaus von Lagny-sur-Marne gebracht wurden, dieses aber später wieder verlassen konnten.

A fresh coat of paint that is. At least that is the most logical explanation as last week scaffolding was errected on the left side-facade of Phantom Manor (the facade facing toward the queue-area) reaching all the way to the roof. Operation of the attraction is not disturbed by this.
And that is not the only part of Frontierland getting a share of the annual spring rehab. Right below the Phantom Manor a construction fence has sprung up to allow for work on the fence between the walkway leading to the Boot Hill and the Rivers of the Far West.

Einen frischen Anstrich für das Phantom - das jedenfalls wäre die logischste Erklärung für das Gerüst, das vergangene Woche an der Seiten-Fassade des Gebäudes, die dem Wartebereich zugewandt ist, errichtet wurde und sich bis zum Dach streckt. Der Betrieb der Attraktion ist von den Arbeiten im übrigen nicht behindert.
Das Phantom Manor ist übrigens nicht der einzige Bereich im Frontierland, der dieses Jahr von den schon traditionellen Frühjahrs-Renovierungen betroffen ist. Direkt zu seinen Füßen wurde ein Bauzaun errichtet, hinter dem an dem Zaun zwischen dem Fußweg zum Boot Hill und den Rivers of the far West gearbeitet wird.

Spring-cleaning is good (well, as long as you are not the one having to do all the work) but in the case of the Disneyland Park the resort is going for even more! After the extensive rehab of the exterior of the Plaza West building housing Guest Relations, Guest Storage and Salon Mickey (on the right side of the park's entrance), now scaffolding has gone up around the Plaza East building on the opposite side of the entrance plaza.
Further inside the park in Adventureland work continues on the roof of the Restaurant Hakuna Matata. Only a few steps further the paint crews are bussy at the shop La Girafe Curieuse, which is getting a new paintshop for its facade to bring the more vivid colors of 1992 (as already done last year for the Hakuna Matata).

Der Frühjahrsputz ist gut (nun ja, jedenfalls solange man nicht selber ran muss) aber im Falle des Disneyland Parks geht das Resort noch einen Schritt weiter! Nach der aufwendigen Renovierung der Fassade des Plaza West Gebäudes (rechterhand des Eingangsplatzes), in dem Guest Relations, Guest Storage und Salon Mickey untergebracht sind, wurden die Gerüste nun rund um das Plaza East Gebäude gegenüber aufgestellt.
Tiefer im Park gehen die Arbeiten im Adventureland weiter am Ried-Dach des Restaurants Hakuna Matata. Und nur wenige Schritt weiter sind die Maler kräftig am Werkeln an der Fassade des Shops La Girafe Curieuse, die jetzt schon wieder teilweise in den strahlenden Farben von 1992 glänzt (ähnlich wie das Hakuna Matata seit dem Anstrich im vergangenen Jahr).

As work continues throughout the Disneyland Park to get it back in as perfect as possible shape before the summer season starts, the large sail functioning as entrance marquee for Pirates of the Caribbean has returned, while the mouse, that every few seconds popped up from inside the oversized tea pot next to Mad Hatter's Tea Cups and the March Hare Refreshments is still missing in action. While the tea pot had been reinstalled after the end of the Christmas season the mouse according to our information was not spotted so far this year. Also missing in action are Mickey and his futuristic, flying bycicle that was the centerpiece in the shop Constellations - hopefully he has taken only a short detour into the maintenance bay of Imagineering...

Die Vorbereitungen des Disneyland Parks für die Sommersaison laufen auf Hochtouren. Doch während das große Segel, das als Schild über dem Eingang von Pirates of the Caribbean fungiert, wieder angebracht wurde, ist noch immer keine Spur von der Maus zu sehen, die regelmäßig aus der überdimensionierten Teekanne zwischen Mad Hatter's Tea Cups und March Hare Refreshments auftauchte. Zwar war nach dem Ende der Weihnachtssaison die Teekanne wieder installiert worden, nach unseren Informationen war von der Maus dieses Jahr aber nich nichts zu sehen. Verschwunden ist zwischenzeitlich auch Mickey mit seinem futuristischen, fliegenden Fahrrade, das im Zentrum des Constellations Shops stand - mit etwas Glück macht Mickey aber nur einen kleinen Ausflug in die Reparaturwerkstatt von Imagineering oder einem nahegelegenen Fahrradladen...

 

The French daily Le Parisien reports that yesterday shortly after 5.00 pm the TGV station Marne la Vallee in the Disneyland Resort Paris was evacuated and closed for roughly 60 minutes due to a fire.
For what is still called unknown reasons parts near or on the roof of the motor coach of the Eurostar train already waiting inside the station heated up and caused the oil in a repusatory right next to the origin of the heat to inflame. While flames were visible the actual fire was rather concentrated and small, causing mostly heavy smoke. The guest waiting already on the platform to board the Eurostar for the departure toward London were immediately evacuated. No injuries have been reported. The firemen were able to extinguish the fire in roughly 10 minutes once electricity for the TGV-tracks had been cut off. The necessary checks, the reconnecting of the electricity and the ventilating of the station still made it necessary to keep the station closed till shortly after 6.00 pm. TGV trains were then running with roughly 40 minutes delay. A stand-in train was called for the Eurostar, as the fire damaged motor coach could not be used anymore. The delayed Eurostar was then able to leave the station toward London around 8.40 pm.
As the RER-trains use different tracks and its location is separated RER-traffic was not affected.

Die französische Tageszeitung Le Parisien meldet, dass gestern kurz nach 17.00 Uhr die TGV-Station Marne la Vallee im Disneyland Resort Paris evakuiert wurde und für ca. 60 Minuten wegen eines Feuers geschlossen wurde.
Aus bisher unbekannten Gründen kam es auf bzw. am Dach des Triebwagens eines Eurostar-Zuges, der bereits im Bahnhof stand, zu einem Hitzestau, der das Öl in einem Behälter in der Nähe der Hitzequelle auf dem Dach in Brand setzte. Der Brand war jedoch relativ klein, auch wenn Flammen zu sehen waren, und sorgte im wesentlichen für eine erhebliche Rauchentwicklung.
Die Gäste, die bereits auf dem Bahnsteig warteten, den Zug in Richtung London zu besteigen, wurden umgehend evakuiert. Verletzungen wurden nicht gemeldet. Die sofort herbeigerufene Feuerwehr konnte den Brand innerhalb von 10 Minuten löschen, nachdem die Elektrizitätszufuhr zu den Gleisen unterbrochen worden war. Auf Grund der notwendigen Sicherheitschecks, der Wiederherstellung des Stromflusses und der Durchlüftung der Station blieb diese jedoch bis kurz nach 18.00 Uhr geschlossen. In Folge fuhren die TGV-Züge mit ca. 40 Minuten Verspätung. Für den nicht unmittelbar wieder einsetzbaren Eurostar-Zug wurde ein Ersatzzug bereitgestellt, der gegen 20.40 Uhr in Richtung London abfuhr.
Der RER-Verkehr war nicht betroffen, da er in einem separaten Teil des Bahnhofs auf anderen Gleisen abgewickelt wird.

Recently the cable, that was used for Tinkerbell's flight in Tinkerbell's Fantasy in the Sky fireworks, has been removed. Originally it was stretching from the roofs of Fantasyland next to the former Archway at its entrance to the highest turret of the castle. After being in place for the whole winter season this is an interesting development, as it had been expected that the Tinkerbell's flight would be incorporated into the new fireworks too, as is the case in the original "Wishes" fireworks in Walt Disney World.
On a side note some work is taking place on the flat roofs of the buildings next to the castle in Fantasyland. As this is the location from which most of the fireworks are shot in Disneyland Paris the work might be part of the preparations for the premier of Wishes. Starting July 16th Disneyland Paris will be the third park featuring a fireworks of the "Wishes"-family, as the 50th anniversary fireworks "Remember ... Dreams come true" in Anaheim also makes use of at least parts of the music from the original Wishes in WDW.

Vor kurzem wurde das Kabel, das für den Flug von Fee Glöckchen in Tinkerbell's Fantasy in the Sky Feuerwerk verwendet wurde, entfernt. Ursprünglich war es von den Dächern in Fantasyland direkt neben dem ehemaligen Torbogen bis zum höchsten Turm des Schlosses gespannt. Nachdem das Kabel die gesamte Wintersaison über nicht entfernt worden war, ist das eine überraschende Entwicklung, da erwartet wurde, dass der Flug von Fee Glöckchen auch im neuen Feuerwerk zu sehen sein würde, so wie auch im Original "Wishes" Feuerwerk in Walt Disney World.
In diesem Zusammenhang ist auch interessant, dass auf den Flachdächern in Fantasyland neben dem Schloss Arbeiten aufgenommen wurden. Nachdem von dort aus der größte Teil des Feuerwerks abgeschossen wird, könnte es sich um Vorbereitungen für die Premiere von Wishes handeln. Ab 16. July wird Disneyland Paris dann der dritte Park mit einem Feuerwerk der "Wishes"-Familie sein, nachdem auch das Feuewerk anlässlich des 50. Geburtstages von Disneyland Anaheim "Remember ... Dreams come true" zumindestens teilweise Musik aus dem original "Wishes" in WDW einsetzt.

As reported earlier the lower half of the Emporium (the part toward Town Square) has reopened and presents its interior in shiny, bright new colors modelled after the Emporium in Magic Kingdom. The result is rather pleasant giving the whole shop a much roomier feeling. The decision to place modern style, generic "manequins" on top of some of the displays must be called debatable though. But then there is a lot of positive changes too, as the illuminated signs indicating the locations of the cashiers (very helpfull for first time guests especially in the evening when the shop is crammed with guests) or the new signs suspended from the ceiling indicating the different merchandise section. Pin collectors and traders will also love the new pin area, which is more stretched out.
Fans will also rejoice to hear that the reopening already had a positive impact on Lily's Boutique - after temporarily selling Princess' costumes which had to be relocated from the Emporium it has now returned to its traditional merchandise for the dinning room and kitchen. Instead the Bixby Bros. shop inside the Emporium is now functioning as Princess' Boutique. Also all merchandise of the Arcade Market has been taken out of the Liberty Arcade, even so the rather tastefull banners and some display racks are still in place.

Wie bereits berichtet, wurde die untere Häfte des Emporiums (zum Town Square hin) wieder eröffnet und präsentiert sich jetzt in glänzenden, hellen Farben im Stil des Emporiums im Magic Kingdom. Der Eindruck ist sehr angenehm, auch da der Shop nun wesentlich weitläufiger erscheint. Die Entscheidung moderne Schaufensterpuppen auf einigen der Displays im Emporium zu platzieren, ist allerdings eher verwunderlich. Allerdings gibt es auch sehr viel positives zu berichten, wie die beleuchteten Hinweisschilder auf die Kassen (sehr hilfreich für Gäste vor allem am Abend, wenn das Emporium stark frequentiert ist) oder die neuen Schilder an der Decke, die anzeigen, welche Produktgruppen wo zu finden sind. Pin-Sammler und -Trader werden sich auch über den nun weiter ausgedehnten Pin-Bereich freuen.
Fans können sich wiederum sicherlich darüber freuen, dass als Folge der Wiedereröffnung Lily's Boutique wieder zu dem traditionellen Produktangebot für Esszimmer und Küche zurückkehren konnte. Der Bixby Bros. Shop im Emporium dient nun wieder als Princess' Boutique. Auch wurde der Arcade Market aufgelöst und nur noch die aufwendigen Banner und einige Regale in der Liberty Arcade erinnern an ihn.

In time for the opening of Space Mountain: Mission 2 a new attraction poster was created which promptly became the topic for lengthy discussions among fans as it deviated from the victorian style of the original artwork. This became even more apparent, when the poster recently also replace the original poster in the walkway leading from the Entrance Plaza of the Disneyland Park, under the Main Street Station, to the Town Square.
With its new, more modern "airbrush-like"-style it stands out from the more classic style of the surrounding attraction posters - but then it does fit the new overall style of the attraction, and the poster for Star Tours already since 1992 deviated from the classic graphic style. Fans inspecting the prints up close will also notice that Imagineering currently replaced / replaces all the prints in this area. The new prints, while still using the same artwork, have been stripped of the logos of opening day sponsors no longer represented in the park. In addition the name and logo of the park was updated from EuroDisneyland to "Disneyland Park".

Zu der Eröffnung von Space Mountain: Mission 2 wurde auch ein neues Attraktionsposter entworfen, das prompt Gegenstand langer Diskussionen unter Fans wurde, da es deutlich von dem viktorianischen Stil seines Vorgängers abweicht. Das wird nun umso deutlicher, nachdem schon seit einigen Wochen das Poster auch in den "Tunneln" von der Eingangs Plaza, unter der Main Street Station hindurch zum Town Square ausgetauscht wurde.
Mit seinem neuen, moderneren Gestaltung im "Airbrush-Stil" hebt sich das neue Poster dort deutlich von den übrigen Attraktionsposters ab - allerdings passt seine Gestaltung zu dem neuen Stil der Attraktion und auch das Poster für Star Tours hat schon seit 1992 einen deutlich anderen Stil im Vergleich zu den übrigen Postern. Fans, die einen genaueren Blick auf die Drucke werfen, dürfte dabei auch auffallen, dass Imagineering zur Zeit / in den vergangen Wochen, die Poster ausgetauscht hat. Die neuen Versionen unterscheiden sich dabei (abgesehen von den druckfrischen Farben) darin, dass die Logos ehemaliger Sponsoren entfernt und das Park-Logo von EuroDisneyland durch das aktuelle "Disneyland Park"-Logo ersetzt wurde.

Disney's Sequoia Lodge is undergoing major refurbishment till August. After the rehab of the bar a year ago, work is now concentrating on the exterior of the main building. Scaffolding is already up around the west wing and will move over to the east wing later on. For security reasons the windows in the rooms with scaffolding in front of have been locked. This in addition with the blocked view has led to the decision to qualify these rooms as "Standard Rooms" instead of as "Montana Rooms". Normally all rooms in the main building are qualified as "Montana Rooms" while rooms in the lodges are qualified as "Standard Rooms", the difference being the location and the option using the mini-bar in the "Montana Rooms" for which a small surcharge in comparision to the "Standard Rooms" applies. This also applies to those rooms which have a (now blocked) lake view. Guests who have booked a "Montana Room" are currently accomodated in the east wing.
In addition to these "long term" rehab there is a power cut today, Tuesday May 10th, from 11.00 pm till 4.00 am. During this time elevators, air conditioning, lights, automatic doors, computers, telephone, minibars etc. will not be available and the restaurant, the bar and the pool will be closed. Guests can still enter the rooms with their keys though as Disney announced.

Der Westflügel wurde bereits mit Baugerüsten umstellt, die später an den Ostflügel versetzt werden sollen. Aus Sicherheitsgründen wurden die Zimmer aller Fenster in diesem Bereich verriegelt. Auf Grund dieser Einschränkung und der versperrten Aussicht werden diese Zimmer vorübergehend nicht mehr als "Montana Room" sondern als "Standard Room" eingestuft. Normalerweise sind alle Zimmer im Hauptgebäude als "Montana Room" eingestuft, die im Gegensatz zu den "Standard Rooms" in den Lodges den Vorzug der Lage und der Möglichkeit der Freischaltung der Minibar bieten - und daher geringfügig teurer sind. Diese Abstufung (und damit Preisreduzierung) gilt auch für die sonst mit Seeblick ausgezeichneten Zimmer. Gäste, die eine Reservierung für einen "Montana Room" haben, werden zur Zeit im Ostflügel eingebucht.
Neben diesen längerfristigen Arbeiten wird heute, am Dienstag den 11. Mai, von 11.00 bis 16.00 Uhr vorübergehend der Strom abgeschaltet. Während dieses Zeitraumes stehen Aufzüge, Air Conditioning, Beleuchtung, automatische Türen, Computer, Telephone, Minibars etc. nicht zur Verfügung, Bar, Restaurant und Pool werden geschlossen. Laut Aussagen von Disney soll es jedoch weiterhin möglich sein, mit dem Schlüsselkarten die Zimmer zu betreten.

Whether as movie starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, or on theater stages around the world from the West End and the Broadway - GREASE is one of the truly international hit musicals which electrifies audiences of all ages that sing along with all-time-hits as "Grease is the Word", "Summer Nights", "Sandy", "You're the One that I want", "Hopelessly Devoted to You", ... and next winter the rock'n'roll fever will take over the Disney Village, which just announced that the UK-Touring production of Grease will stop over in the Disney Village Dôme with daily performances (except on certain dates) from December 14th 2005 till January 8th 2006!
Naturally the cast list has not yet been released but as it is the UK-Touring production based on the smash-hit West End version (directed by David Gilmore with a choreography by Arlene Phillips and a fresh, modern sound by Mike Dixon) the whole show will be performed in ENGLISH! Tickets are not yet available but will go on sale soon according to the official website of the production. Tickets will be available through the Disneyland Resort Paris Direct hotline, at the Disney Village ticket counter and hotline (+33/1/60457100).

Im kommenden Winter wird das Rock'n'Roll-Fieber das Disney Village übernehmen, das im Disney Village Dôme vom 14. Dezember 2005 bis 8. Januar 2006 täglich (mit Ausnahme einiger Tage) die UK-Tournee-Produktion von Grease präsentieren wird!
Zwar kann die Besetzungsliste noch nicht bekannt gegeben werden, da es sich jedoch um die britische Tournee-Produktion handelt, die auf der erfolgreichen West-End-Version mit dem frischen, jungen Sound von Mike Dixon basiert (Regie: David Gilmore; Choreographie: Arlene Phillips), wird die gesamte Vorstellung in ENGLISCH erfolgen! Tickets sind noch nicht im Vorverkauf, der laut der offiziellen Website der Produktion bald starten soll. As DLP.info-Community-Member Ulti Nli reports with photos on the DLP.info-Forum the Emporium has reopened in the meantime. While the upper half of the shop is still in the original, dark brown colors, the lower half has been completely refurbished and sports now the bright, white colors as the Emporium in the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. In this new section the counters with the check-out have been moved to the walls to allow for a better guest flow in the main area. During the renovation the system of small baskets to transports the money from the check-outs to the upper floor underwent a rehab too and is operating now once again. Fears that the detailed stained glass windows in the central dome of the shop or the paintings on the walls advertising the other Emporiums (in Anaheim, Orlando and Tokyo) would be demolished proofed wrong. The dates for the renovation of the upper half of the Emporium to transfer it to the whiter, wider feeling color scheme is not yet known. Wie DLP.info-Community-Mitglied Ulti Nli mit Photos im DLP.info-Forum berichtet, hat das Emporium zwischenzeitlich wieder geöffnet. Während die obere Hälfte des Shops noch in den warmen, dunklen Brauntönen gehalten ist, präsentiert sich der untere Bereich komplett renoviert in hellen, freundlichen Farben wie das Emporium im Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. In diesem neuen Bereich befinden sich die Kassen nun an den Außenwänden, um mehr Freiraum im Geschäft zu schaffen und so das Einkaufserlebnis zu verbessern. Während den Arbeiten wurde auch das automatische Korbsystem, mit dem scheinbar das Geld von den Kassen in das obere Stockwerk befördert wird, generalüberholt und ist nun wieder in Betrieb. Befürchtungen, dass möglicherweise die aufwendige Glaskuppel oder die detailreichen Gemälde, die die Emporium-Niederlassungen in Anaheim, Orlando und Tokyo bewerben, entfernt würden haben sich glücklicherweise als unnötig erwiesen. Daten für eine Renovierung des oberen Bereiches des Emporiums, um auch dort das hellere, einen Eindruck größerer Weite erzeugende Farbschema zu realisieren, ist noch nicht bekannt. Guest "JamesD" has posted on the DLP.info-Forum a report about his encounter with Andre Lacroix, CEO of the resort, in the Shareholders' Club Loung "Salon Mickey" last Monday. According to his report Andre Lacroix revealed, when asked by JamesD, that a new parade will premier already in 2006, one year earlier than expected (as current rumors hinted toward a premier in 2007 for the 15th anniversary of the park). Again according to Andre Lacroix in that conversation the new parade should premier at the same time as the new Buzz Lightyear ride in Discoveryland.
JamesD according to his post also inquired about any new shows and was told that a new show should premier in 2006 in Frontierland (which would most propably mean that this year is the final season for "Tarzan") and in 2007 in Fantasyland (which could mean that either "Pooh" will have its last season next year or that the Fantasy Festival Stage might be used year round again).

Laut diesem Bericht hat Andre Lacroix auf Nachfrage enthüllt, dass 2006 eine neue Parade zeitgleich mit der Eröffnung der neuen Buzz Lightyear Attraktion Premiere feiern wird (und damit ein Jahr früher als erwartet, war in Gerüchten doch von einer neuen Parade zum 15. Geburtstag des Parks 2007 die Rede).
Laut dem Bericht von JamesD hat Andre Lacroix außerdem auf Nachfrage mitgeteilt, dass jeweils eine neue Show 2006 in Frontierland und 2007 in Fantasyland Premiere feiern soll. Damit erscheint es wahrscheinlich, dass dieses Jahr Abschied von "Tarzan" gefeiert werden muss und im kommenden Jahr entweder "Pooh" seine letzte Saison erlebt oder aber eventuell die Fantasy Festival Stage wieder belebt wird.
