Recent reports coming in speak of Indians in full battle colours and Cowboys that have been spotted in the Disney Village - but there is no cause to be afraid ... this is just another indicator that the summer has arrived at the Disneyland Resort Paris as with the summer the daily horse parade of the Indians and Cowboys from Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show returns to the Village. Here guests can get a close look at the proud Indians and the brave cowboys as they parade down the main street of the Village on their horses - all safe and all free with the Calvacade de Buffalo Bill!

As reported earlier Star Wars has not only arrived in a movie theatre near you but also at the Disneyland Park. If you want to get face to face with a real Storm Trooper or challenge Chewie (don't forget how easily he is upset!) just hang out at the space port of Star Tours and the surrounding area of Discoveryland and the force will be with you ... but only till the 5th of July - so you better hurry to get that very special photo of you and the storm tropper, not to speak of the autograph of Chewie!

After the terror attacks of the 11th September security was tightened everywhere - the Disneyland Resort Paris was no exception. Among those changes that were obvious to guests was the decision to open only one gate leading into the Fantasy Gardens and to the Disney Village. Guests were stopped at the gates and bags searched. While most guests understood the new policy, others didn't like to be part of it. Now it seems that the security at the resort has been tuned down a bit - at least as far as the normal guest can see it. Even the security forces are still watching guests all gates to the theme parks and the Disney Village are now open again. So mo more queues to enter the resort anymore. But even if the gates are open now this doesn't mean one can go and do what one wants - Security is watching. Just ask the sweater thief that security got hold of - somehow he misunderstood the meaning of the "open gates"...

It took some time but now "one day guests" visiting the Studios realize that their tickets allow to visit the Disneyland Park too thanks to additional signs that went up at several points inside the Studios. But this hopping feature is tightly restricted: each one-day-passport for the Studios allows its holder (if he gets a hand stamp when exiting the WDS) to enter the Disneyland Park for free for the last three hours of its operational day only (if the Disneyland Park closes at 8.00 pm hopping is possible as of 5.00 pm, if DL closes at 11.00 pm hopping is possible as of 8.00 pm). The guests really appreciate this feature as it allows them to sample some of the highlights of the Disneyland Park too - some might even say they love it a bit too much as the number of guests in the Studios is dramatically reduced as soon as park hopping is possible - so much that the Photo Shop closes as of 4.00 pm and the restaurant Rendez-Vous des Stars at 6.00 pm on some days. But then this also allows all hotel guests with a park hopper pass and all Annual Passport holders to return to the Studios for a repeat visit of their prefered attraction with barely any waiting time - and this is positive, isn't it?

The Studios are an ever-changing stage. So every visit is different. All you have to do is check out the shows and rides!
We all know that the Rock‘n’Rollercoaster has 5 different soundtracks, but there are other rides/shows that change every time you visit them too... the stunt show is a good example for this: sometimes due to inclement weather some stunts cannot be performed, but there are also some lasting changes made to the show. The first of the two most recent changes which seem to be made to last is a short cut: they have stopped showing the sound test with the villain cars on the screen. Already under constant change is the big explosion during the finale. In the latest effort more fire effects have been added turning up the heat for the guests in the front rows.
One other show undergoing changes is Animagique. Here the pink elephant heads are back in the auditorium and the same actors come back later in the show with flying fishes and birds. So you might think you’ve seen it with one visit? But no two visit will be the same…

Timekeeper finally is inviting guests again to witness the presentation of his biggest invention: the time machine, which he is going to demonstrate with the help of 9Eye, the sucessor of FlyingEye. But this isn't the biggest news of today - and the fact that the Renault logo has been removed together with the Renault-Pre-Pre-Show film, while the Renault racing team and the Reinastella are still featured in the main time travel are not new to the frequent guest of this site either!
The real news is: the Reinastella has taken off!! It seems what everybody believed to be a model only, was in fact a real working Reinastella only parked in front of the entrance of the Visionarium for demonstration purpose. With the departure of Renault according to some inside sources who do not want to be named but witnessed this with their very own eyes someone (we are still trying to determine who) came and took off with the flying vehicle of the future. The Disneyland Park has tried its best to cover it up and even removed the original display area...

So what's the buzz all about? It all started when it became known that Opel / Vauxhall would take over from Renault as sponsor in the area "motorvehicle" - but back then it had nothing to do with Buzz, even so it was a buzz. Back then only the future of the Visionarium seemed in danger and once the Visionarium closed down the buzz got even worse as Tokyo Disneyland announced that they would close down their version of the Visionarium to put the interactive, spinning Buzz Lightyear's Spaceranger ride into the building, which is attracting huge crowds in WDW's Magic Kingdom. Suddenly the buzz among fans of the Disneyland Resort Paris was wether the same might be happening here too. In the last days the situation seemed to have calmed down as the Visionarium is reopening with a changed preshow / new decoration now omitting any reference to the former sponsor Renault - so the future of the Visionarium seemed safe and the arrival of a Buzz' ride in the park unpropable ... that was till fans with an eye for the detail recognized a small but maybe significant change: Buzz Lightyear's Pizza Planet Restaurant has been renamed!
The "Buzz Lightyear's" part has been dropped and the restaurant is now referred to as "Pizza Planet" only. As park maps from 2001 reveale the change was made sometime between the end of the Halloween-season and the actual Christmas-week. As nothing inside the restaurant changed the restaurant sign still sports the "Toy Story"-logo the question must be: why the change? Some vocies point out it might be a step to avoid mix-ups between the restaurant and a possible future Buzz Lightyear's Spaceranger ride to be added to the Discoveryland... but this right now is only a rumour - which should be enough for some buzz about Buzz

After the recent addition of Chip'n'Dale cut-out characters at the doors of Walts an American Restaurant on Main Street, U.S.A., the latest Disney cut-out character to appear at a park restaurant is an oversized Jiminy Cricket at L'Auberge de Cendrillon in Fantasyland.
It is thought that the characters are being added to highlight the locations of the table service restaurants in the Disneyland Park and further boost their attendance by attracting walk-by guests - but it is not yet known if similar characters are planned for the remaining two table service restaurants, Blue Lagoon and Silver Spur Steakhouse. But certainly we will be keeping a look out for their possible arrival.

Even so from a meterological point of view the summer season has already started, the Disneyland Resort Paris is still full swing in the preparations as the summer season here doesn't start till the 6th of July. So the big spring cleaning is still going on. The latest center of attention for the castmembers in this case is the Mark Twain one of the two paddle steamers plowing the Rivers of the Far West, which currently sits in the port area next to the Chaparral Theater mostly hidden from the view of guests. Just as during the refurbishment of the second steamer, the Molly Brown, last November the port area has been drained and the steamer has been covered with scaffolding for a complete cleaning and paint job. If no unexpected difficulties arise the Mark twain will be back in service for the high season.

You don't have to be a stuntman to appreciate the latest addition to the Backlot of the Walt Disney Studios, where late last week the first official opening after the grand opening of the theme park was celebrated: Le Café Des Cascadeurs (Cafe of the Stuntmen).
Located opposite of the queue-line for Moteurs...Action!, behind the Armageddon show building this original diner with outdoor seating on a shady terrace is just what the guests expects an American diner from the 40s and 50s to look like. So you shouldn't be surprised if one of the stuntmen from the show drops in for a short snack or drink while you enjoy your Hot Dog - or if it is later on the day maybe a Brownie or Sundae from the all american menu (which also includes salads for all vegetarians).

The school-breaks are only weeks away and with them the numbers of guests in the resort will further increase. That means the last finishing touches need to be added now ... and the helping hands are to be found all over the resort - mostly out of sight of guests. But now and then one or two of them get in sight as happened in Fantasyland, where the roofs  of the waiting area for Dumbo got a little rehab and the giant beanstalk outside Sir Mickey's got a little extra cleaning and greening. See, those magical plants sometimes just need a magical extra treating...

With the eyes of the world focused on the World Cup and France being the current World Cup Champions it seems only fitting that the Disneyland Resort Paris is also entering into the World Cup spirit. For football fans who don’t want to miss a second of the World Cup action there is one place to be at the resort…. the Disney Village, which is joining in the soccer celebration.
At the Sports Bar World Cup games are being broadcast everyday till June 30th on giant screens throughout. And if that wasn’t enough Disney have even added an extra viewing area close to Lake Disney. The “Disney Village Stadium” as it is known, is sure to be popular spot to watch the latest football action on TV and get into some action yourself...

Star Wars is the latest craze again thanks to the sucess of the new movie release "Star Wars Episode II" out now. Thanks to Star Tours, the simulator ride taking guests right into the Star Wars universe on a interstellar space travel with some unexpected encounters, the Disneyland Park is positioned perfectly to add some special fun to the day for all Star Wars fans anyway but to deal with the increased interest characters from the Star Wars Trilogy, which have vanished from Discoveryland after the first years of operation, are out to meet guests at the entrance of Star Tours since last Saturday till the 5th of July again. A unique chance for all fans...
Unfortunately there is no official word yet about the so called "Star Tours II" project, a new film / a new experience for the existing simulators based on the Star Wars prequels, even so the Orlando Sentinel has brought this rumour up again.

While the mysterious construction, sometimes dubed 'Toilets of Terror' due to the current official statement regarding the new building, continues in the WDS at least preparation for a Tower of Terror are continuing backstage and more information is leaking out. The latest leackage brought the information that the ToT planned for Paris in fact does not include the so called "5th Dimension Room", one of the surprising highlight of the original Tower in the Disney MGM Studios in Walt Disney World. The "5th Dimension Room" is the part of the ride where the elevator actually leaves the first shaft and travels horizontal till it arrives in the actual drop-shaft. It had already been rumoured that this element would miss in the Tower confirmed for DCA in Anaheim, as Imagineering never was happy with the final result as the original plans had the elevators driving through a star field thanks to mirrors on the ground which had to be removed (destroying the effect) due to technical problems with the guidance system for the elevators during the horizontal movement.

Spring is in the air, summer just around the corner at Disneyland Paris and the resort is blooming. While the Disneyland Park benefits from long established landscaping,  the greenery at the Walt Disney Studios is still taking shape.
Right now it is the Animation Courtyard with its whimsical topiaries that the park looks its best and the recent arrival of some new topiary frames promises to make the area even more beautiful in coming years. Inside the waiting area of Animagique the "skeleton" for a Hyacinth Hippo topiary has recently been installed that the talented horticulture team will slowly train plants around and through to produce a new living sculpture. But until then framework acts as artwork of a different kind.
