When will the WDS open? Officially Disneyland Paris never confirmed any date but instead spoke of "spring 2002" only, but the rumor that it would be the12th of April, the original 10th birthday of the resort seemed to be strengthened when all the castmembers of DLP received a 365-day-countdown pin to the opening of the Studios on the 9th birthday of DLP this April. But recently this seems to be an outdated plan.
It all started with words pouring in from inside sources stating that the construction was not only on schedule but 2 months ahead. Afterwards it didn't took long till rumors showed up speaking of an earlier opening of the second theme park. First word was that previews might start as early as February than a March opening was carefully dropped here and there. The later one now got strengthened with the release of a first version of an official DLP-brochure for the winter-season for travel-agents in Great Britain, while the brochure of the reservation central of Disneyland Paris for guests won't be out for a few weeks (and booking through them is not yet open for the winter season). While there is no mentioning of the new theme park in them (while it is said that the official brochure of DLP might contain something when it hits the streets later this summer) there is something else to note: it's valid only till march the 20th, which actually is a Wednesday and a very unusal day to end a booking period which always used to last till the last Friday of March...

Bring in an inside source telling the DLP-Guide.com of an opening date before easter 2002 only recently, add your calendar and learn that the easter weekend lasts from the 29th of March till the 1st of April, realize that the 23rd and 24th are block out dates for holders of the annual passports Francilien and Classic .... and, voila, an opening of the WDS could very well be in for the weekend Staruday the 23rd (opening celebration with VIPs?) / Sunday the 24th (open to the public?) of March 2002!

Wann werden die WDS wirklich öffnen? Disneyland Paris hat bisher nie ein genaues Datum bestätigt und stattdessen immer von "Frühjahr 2002" gesprochen, Gerüchte erwähnten allerdings immer den 12. April, also den 10. Geburtstag des Resorts. Gestützt wurde das ganze dann noch durch die Ausgabe der 365-Tage-Countdown-Pins zur Eröffnung der Studios am 9. Geburtstag von DLP diesen April. Doch das scheint seit kurzem ein veralteter Plan zu sein.
Zuerst meldeten sich nur verschiedene interne Quellen und merkten an, dass die Bauarbeiten nicht nur im Zeitplan, sondern sogar 2 Monate vor diesem lägen. Kurz darauf tauchten dann auch erste Gerüchte über eine vorgezogene Eröffnung des Parks auf. Zuerst nur in der Form, dass die Previews schon im Februar starten könnten, bevor dann vorsichtig auch eine Eröffnung im März fallengelassen wurde. Letztere Information wird nun scheinbar von der ersten Ausgabe der DLP-Broschüren für die kommende Wintersaison für Reisebüromitarbeiter in Großbritannien bestätigt. Dabei handelt es sich nicht um die von der Reservierungszentrale von DLP für Kunden verwendeten Broschüren (diese werden erst in einigen Wochen fertiggestellt, eine Buchung über Disneyland Paris direkt ist noch nicht möglich). Darin wird der neue Themenpark noch nicht erwähnt (eventuell soll das bei der DLP-eigenen Broschüre später im Sommer anders sein), doch etwas anderes fällt auf: die Gültigkeit endet bereits am 20. März - und das ist ein Mittwoch, ein sehr ungewöhnlicher Tag, zog sich die Wintersaison bisher doch immer bis zum letzten Freitag im März...
Ergänzt man dann die brandheiße Information eines Insiders, der kürzlich gegenüber dem DLP-Guide.com von einer Eröffnung vor Ostern 2002 sprach, wirft einen Blick auf den Kalender und sieht, das das Osterwochende vom 29. März bis 1. April dauert, sowie bemerkt, dass die Annual Passports Francilien und Classic am 23. und 24. nicht gültig sind ... voila, eine Eröffnung der WDS könnte demnach für Samstag den 23. (Eröffnung mit VIPs?) / Sonntag den 24. März (Eröffnung für alle Gäste?) anstehen!

Construction at StarTours moves ahead at near lightspeed to get FastPass up and working for the high season months of July and August. Just these days the signs for the FastPass-Entrance at the end of queue have been put up, even so the electronical boards informing guests which FastPass are valid and how long the waiting time in the standby-line is are not yet installed.
Guests holding a valid FP will pass under the X-Wing where the old queue began, while the new standby-line, which is already in use, begins a few meter nearer to the main building.

Die Bauarbeiten bei StarTours gehen nahezu mit Lichtgeschwindigkeit voran, so daß FastPass rechzeitig für die Hochsaison im July/August bereit sein sollte. Gerade in diesen Tagen wurden die Schilder für den FastPass-Eingang am Ende des Wartebereiches aufgestellt, auch wenn die elektronischen Anzeigen zur Information der Gäste über die Wartezeit in der Standby-Schlange oder das aktuell gültige FP-Zeitfenster noch nicht an Ort und Stelle sind.
Gäste mit gültigem FP werden demnach auch weiterhin, wie schon früher alle Gäste, den Wartebereich unter dem X-Wing hindurch betreten, während der Zugang zur Standby-Schlange einiger Meter näher am Gebäude liegt.
