Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast

Buzz Lightyear needs your help to protect the universe and to catch the evil Zurg. So board your Space Cruiser, grab your Astro Blaster and see if you can become the next Galactic Hero...

Buzz Lighyear's nemesis, the evil Zurg, has his mind set on stealing every power cell in the whole universe. Zurg wants all the power cells so no toy will be able to operate anymore, giving him complete power. Buzz needs you to stop this evil threat, but he can't do it without the help of you. Become part of the Space Rangers and fight the evil Zurg who has send his army into the Gamma Quadrant on his monstrous quest.

Once you enter the building of star command you will be briefed on your mission objectives. Buzz himself will explain the dangers and his expectations of you during this operation. Once you made your way through the command centre you are ready for your task and can start boarding the XP-41 Space Cruiser, pick up your Astro Blaster and start aiming for those evil robots and aliens Zurg has send out. Put your hand on the control stick on the dashboard, allowing your cruiser to spin around, and get ready for a 360° intergalactic fight!

Targets are everywhere! Hit them to stop Zurg's army and collect as many points as you possible can. Targets come in several forms, circle, square, diamond and triangle. Hit them hard and fast to improve your score. The triangular targets give you the highest score, hence they are more difficult to find and hit, but worth the effort. Hit them as much as you can on your quest and help Buzz protect the universe from Zurg's evil plans.

Once you start your travel you can spin your cruiser around to find and hit the best target. You start your journey in the corners of a dark universe. Robots are everywhere and will give you a hard time trying to hit them. Moving targets and discs are flying and spinning around, a first test to proof yourself a worthy Space Ranger cadet. Next you will have to face alien monsters, and shoot yourself a way though them before you can enter Zurg's ship. Some of those aliens are hidden in boxes and behind rocks. Shoot target to make them apear, then hit them for higher scores. But make sure to stay focussed! Once you enter Zurg's ship you will have no time to rest, no time to loose control. Zurg will not go down without a fight and you will have to work hard to even try and hit him. Zurg will do anything to have you fail your mission, he will not be an easy target and will fight back.

Your first attack on Zurg might be successful, but he might be able to escape into space. Get your Astro Blasters positioned, fly your cruiser into space and zap that Evil Zurg as often as you can. Targets are everywhere, they are scattered all over space. Zurg will not go down easy and all the Space Ranger in the room needs to help and fight together to seizure this evil master. Hit him with all you have and capture him before your time is up.

Now it is time to return to base and find out how you did. Check your cruiser's dashboard, remember the points and see if you made a higher rank. Buzz needs those “Galactic Heroes” to defeat Evil Zurg. If you ranked lower, no worries, try again and again. You'll be a hero in no time...

Tips

There are two Zurg characters on the ride that have hidden targets. (There is a third Zurg at the end of the ride, but only with a circle target). Both those Zurg's have a small invisible target on their chest. Hit these for the highest possible score of 100,000 point.

Inside the short black tunnels, just before the main room, there are some hidden targets on the ceiling. Those are triangle targets worth 10,000 points.

Regular Target Hit Points

Specials

Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast is build inside the building of the previous “Le Visionarium” attraction. “ Le Visionarium” was an attraction that used to invite guests for a trip around the world in the past, the present and future, and all of this through the eyes of 9-Eye. This little female robot had 9 cameras and shared her experience on 9 screens filling the 360° room. As a tribute to 9-Eye, the imagineers have given her a little spot in the new Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast attraction. You can find her in the first room at the right, next to the first big robot.

There are a total of 5 simular attractions around the globe. The first one, “Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin” opened in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom on November 3, 1998. The second one, “Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters” opened its door in Tokyo Disneyland on April 15, 2004. About 1 year later Disneyland in Anaheim got their version, “Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters”. It opened on March 17, 2005. This is the same year Hong Kong got their Buzz ride, it opened on September 12, 2005.

There is one more “Buzz Lightyear's Astroblasters” attraction. It is an attraction where guest ride a small control car while they are shooting balls at each other. This ride is located inside Disneyquest at the Walt Disney World Resort..
