 Ever
since Mickey Mouse first appeared on screen back in 1928 Disney has been
a name synonymous with family entertainment, first through the short
animated cartoons which introduced us to some of Disney's biggest stars
such as Mickey, Minne, Donald and Goofy. Then later through full length
animated feature films from Snow White and Bambi to the modern day
classics such as Beauty and the Beast and Tarzan. In 1955 Walt Disney
decide to try his hand at a new venture. Unhappy with the style of fun
parks he would often visit with his daughters he set out to create a new
style of "Theme Park" where the whole family could enjoy attractions
together. In the process he transformed the face of the leisure industry
forever.
His first creation utilised his unique imagination creating a series of
areas which included rides, Shows and attractions based around a given
theme. At a cost of over one million dollars and taking one year to
construct "Disneyland's" Magic Kingdom opened its gates in 1955 in
Anaheim, California and fast became the most popular tourist attraction
in America.
Some years later Walt turned his attention to a new project, This time
on Americas east coast. Here in Florida Walt not only had plans for a
new Magic Kingdom similar in design to the Californian park but for more
ambitious ideas which included an area called E.P.C.O.T.an Experimental
Prototype Community Of Tomorrow. Sadly Walt passed away in 1966 before
the new project opened but his brother Roy continued his work opening
"Walt Disney Worlds" Magic Kingdom in 1971. In the years that have
follow W.D.W has grown to included 3 further theme parks including
E.P.C.O.T centre, 3 water parks, Numerous hotels, a night-time
entertainment and Shopping complex and more.
In more recent times Disney opened a version of the Magic Kingdom in the
mid eighties in Tokyo. Again similar in design to the original Magic
Kingdom built some 30 years before by Walt himself.
The company then turned their attention to Europe and after long
negotiations with several sites and lengthy construction Euro Disney
opened its doors on 12th April 1992. The result is 56 hectares of land
which includes 6 uniquely designed on-site themed hotels, A Disney
campground including hundreds of woodland cabins, a night-time
entertainment complex "The Disney Village", a top level golf course, and
most significantly of all, a new Magic Kingdom theme park.
Divided into 5 themed areas the park includes restaurants, Shops and
attractions uniquely themed to compliment the area where they are
situated.
Main Street U.S.A.: A recreation of
a turn of the century American street, complete with horse drawn street
cars and gas lamps.
Frontierland: Here guests can take
a trip to the wild west, where they can experience life as a cowboy.
Adventureland: combines the
exotic far eastern bazaar with the deepest jungle and a taste of the
Caribbean.
Fantasyland: Home to many of
Disney's on screen characters including Snow White, Mickey Mouse and
Donald Duck.
Discoveryland: A historical look
at the future through the eyes of European visionaries such as Jules
Verne and H.G Wells.
All Disney resorts worldwide and the magic kingdoms share certain
attractions and elements, but each is a unique experience - learn what
are the differences between the US-resorts and DLP...

Main Street U.S.A., an sie schließen
Frontierland,
Adventureland,
Fantasyland (durch das
phantastische Schloss zu erreichen) und
Discoveryland an.
