 Guests looking for a way to relax during a busy day in the theme park often head for the Frontierland water transportation, where they can choose between the the Paddle Wheel Boats for a 15 minute journey around the waterways surrounding Big Thunder Mountain aptly named the "Rivers of the Far West" and only a short distance away, between the Big Thunder Moutain station and Cottonwood Creek Ranch, the River Rogue Keelboats.

These offer another way to experience a similar journey. The two boats (the "Racoon" and "Coyote") each measure around 12 metres in length and carry around 40 guests and are held on course by a cast member standing at the rear of the boat with a large rudder.

They depart at Smuggler's Cove and sneak out on the river without a noise, where they make the round trip past the Big Thunder Mountain Isle, the the Wilderness Isle and further down the course past Phantom Manor and the River Boat Landing. As they are smaller and more nimble than the large steamboats they are able to get a lot nearer to the bank offering a close look at the wild nature of the west so that guests can get a close look of the elkes standing in the forest.

Guest are seated either at the river-level, which is really not higher than the waters of the river or on the open deck - both offer a very distinct view compared to the steamboats and an experience nearer to the nature.

Ihr Landeplatz ist Smuggler's Cove, aus dem sie geräuschlos auf den Fluss gleiten, auf dem sie ihre Rundfahrt durchführen, vorbei am Big Thunder Mountain, der Wilderness Isle und später auch vorbei an Phantom Manor und dem River Boat Landing. Da sie kleiner und wendiger als die großen Dampfer sind, können sie deutlich näher an die Ufer fahren und so einen genaueren Blick auf die wilde Natur des Westen bieten. So können die Gäste sogar die Elche am Ufer genau bestaunen.

Die Sitzplätze befinden sich entweder auf der Höhe des Flusses oder auf dem offenen Oberdeck - beiden jedenfalls bieten völlig andere Einblicke als die Schaufelraddampfer und bieten ein der Natur näheres Erlebnis.

Guests with a limited time who wish to experience a boat trip around Frontierland should head for the Paddle Steamers which have a much larger capacity and therefore shorter queues.

Besucher mit weniger Zeit, die eine Bootsfahrt in Frontierland erleben wollen, sollten daher die Dampfschiffe wählen, die eine größere Kapazität und deswegen auch kürzere Wartezeiten haben.

 The River Rogue Keelboats are the Paris' version of the old Mike Fink's Keelboats at Disneyland and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom (which are no longer in operation). This attraction (and so its French counterpart) is actually based upon the "Davy Crockett" tv series from the 1950s.

In 1955, the three episodes of "Davy Crockett" that were shown on Walt Disney's "Disneyland"-tv show became a huge success with the public - which even caught Walt Disney by surprise. And soon almost every little boy in America wore a 'coon-skip cap and hummed the popular "Ballade of Davy Crockett". In the summer of the same year those episodes were combined into a feature film called "Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier".

One year later, another three episodes were shot, shown on tv and later as a single feature at the movie theatres under the title "Davy Crockett and the River Pirates".
In this story, which is actually a pre-quel to the first "Crockett"-episodes (Davy Crockett died his heroic death at the Battel of Alamo in episode 3), Davy meets another legendary figure of the Old Frontier: Mike Fink, who used to travell the continent's mighty rivers. Crockett and Fink engage in a race to New Orleans and later have to fight a group of pirates, that are threatening travellers on their journey along the Mississippi.

The boats, that were used for this production, served as an inspiration for Disneyland's Keelboats and - 36 years after they had been seen on American television - finally made it to Disneyland Paris.

 Die River Rogue Keelboats sind Disneyland Paris' Version der Mike Fink's Keelboats aus Disneyland und Walt Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom (die nicht mehr betrieben werden). Diese Attraktion (sowie ihre französische Variante) basiert in auf der "Davy Crockett" Fernsehserie aus den 50er Jahren.

1955 wurden die drei Episoden von "Davy Crockett" im Rahmen von Walt Disneys "Disneyland"-Fernsehshow gezeigt und wurden über Nacht zu einem großer Hit beim Publikum - was sogar Walt Disney selbst überraschte. Schon bald trug fast jeder kleine Junge in Amerika eine Waschbärmütze und summte die beliebte "Ballade von Davy Crockett". Im selben Sommer noch wurden diese drei Episoden zu einem Kinofilm zusammengefügt, den man "Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier" nannte.

Ein Jahr später wurden dann weitere drei Episoden gefilmt, im Fernsehen gezeigt und erneut zu einem Kinofilm mit dem Titel "Davy Crockett and the River Pirates" zusammengefügt.

In dieser Geschichte, die eigentlich die Vorgeschichte zu den ersten "Crockett"-Episoden ist (Davy Crockett starb seinen Heldentot in der Schlacht um die Alamo in der dritten Episode), trifft Davy eine weitere Legende des Wilden Westens: Mike Fink, der die großen Flüsse des Kontinents befuhr. Dabei treten und Crockett und Fink in einem Rennen nach New Orleans gegeneinander an und müssen später eine Bande von Piraten bekämpfen, die Reisende auf dem Mississippi bedrohen.
