 To get from Main Street U.S.A. to Frontierland, guests have to pass through the wooden gates of Fort Comstock. This fort is a recreation of the few outposts of civilization along the American frontier.

At Disneyland Paris, guests will discover some of the greatest heroes from those days at Fort Comstock. Several tableaus portray such unforgetabble characters like Davey Crockett and Buffalo Bill and different aspects of life in the wilderness.

In Disneyland Paris begegnen die Besucher in Fort Comstock einigen der größten Helden aus diesen Tagen. Mehrere Schaukästen zeigen solch' unvergessliche Figuren wie Davey Crockett und Buffalo Bill sowie verschiedene Aspekte des Lebens in der Wildnis.

 One might think that Fort Comstock was named after one of those famous "Legends of the Wild West". But according to legend, the fort was actually named after Walt Disney Imagineering landscape architect Paul Comstock. He had learned from Imagineering legend Bill Evans, who designed landscapes for Disney theme parks ever since the original Disneyland, which openend in 1955.

Evans developed his work on three considerations: first, to ensure guest comfort with shade and shelter. Second, to create a ring of Earth and vegetation around a theme park to hide the real world. And third to help telling a story through landscaping - as you notice with the lush jungel plants at Adventureland or the North American trees around Frontierland.

 Man könnte meinen, dass Fort Comstock nach einem dieser berühmten "Legenden des Wilden Westens" benannt ist. Aber laut Legende wurde das Fort in Wahrheit nach dem Walt Disney Imagineering Landschaftsarchitekten Paul Comstock benannt. Er hatte von der Imagineering Legende Bill Evans gelernt, der Landschaften für Disneyparks seit dem Original Disneyland (das 1955 eröffnete) schuf.

Evans entwickelte seine Arbeit nach drei Kriterien: zu erst musste man den Komfort der Besucher mit Schatten und Unterstellmöglichkeiten gewährleisten. Zweitens muss man einen Ring aus Erde und Vegetation schaffen, der den Themenpark vor der realen Welt versteckt. Und dritten muss man mit der Landschaftsarchitektur beim Erzählen einer Geschichte mithelfen - wie man bei den üppigen Dschungelpflanzen in Adventureland oder den nordamerikanischen Bäumen in Frontierland sehen kann.
