 After passing across the drawbridge leading into the castle two doors opposite each other lead into the castle shops, the left choice lead guests into the workshop of Merlin the Magician.
With its mysterious gadgets and curious bric a brac littering the walls and ceiling of this small chamber it seems that every time you pay a visit here something has been added or changed. Although the truth is really that the detail of its numerous curious items makes it impossible to remember everything crammed in here.
Its glass cabinets and wooden shelving instantly set it apart from many of Disney's other shops with not a single cuddly mouse in sight. The contents of some of the cabinets include crystal and china figures (many with a Disney theme) and a host of glass items, Many made by the glass craftsman who works here. The roar of the hot flame instantly attracts guests who can stand and watch him at work as he turns rod of clear glass into different Disney characters with almost impossible ease.
There is almost something hypnotic about the way characters ranging from Pluto to Donald appear from nothing in just a few twists of the expert's hands.
Other examples of his art are also on display here ranging from a tiny glass coach being drawn by glass mice to surely the most impressive model of all, The castle itself lit from within with light which seems to change the whole models colour in an instant. Other merchandise includes decorative swords set with jewel like stones and intricate engraving to gem like crystals.
But it's not unusual for guests to find their visits here to be cut short, As the distant eerie roar can be heard from just beyond a doorway towards the back of the shop. Leading to a stone balcony almost carved from the rock, Guests can observe the
dragon who occasional awakes from his slumber to scare awaiting
children.

 Wer diesen Laden im Erdgeschoß des Schlosses betritt wähnt sich direkt in der Werkstatt des berühmten Zauberers Merlin. Diese Kammer, die geschmückt ist mit allerlei mittelalterlichen Erfindungen, die direkt aus der Hand von Merlin zu stammen scheinen und allerlei glitzernden Objekten, von Kaleidoskopen bis zu Juwelen, ist sehr realistisch detailliert gestaltet.
Zu kaufen gibt es hier ein breites Sortiment an wunderschönen Glasbläsereien, bei deren Herstellung man den Glasbläser beobachten kann, von kleinen Disney-Figuren wie Klopfer oder Donald bis hin zu einer Nachbildung des Schlosses.
Aber Glasartikel sind bei weitem nicht alles, was dieser laden zu bieten hat, im Sortiment befinden sich auch Porzellanartikel, wie z.B DLP-Sammlerteller. Auch eine große Auswahl verschiedenster Porzellan -und Alabasterfiguren aus der Welt Disney's steht zur Verfügung, z.B. eine Replik der Statue von Walt mit Mickey an der Hand, die sich im Disneyland Anaheim auf dem Central Plaza befindet.
Sogar mittelalterliche Schwerter, vom kleinen Übungsexemplar bis zum massiven Zweihänder sind zu haben! Aber Achtung: Diese Schwerter sind KEIN Spielzeug sondern authentische Kopien echter mittelalterlicher Waffen, die sich eher für einen Platz über dem Kamin, als für die Hände der Kinder eignen.
Versäumen sollte man einen Blick in dieses Geschäft, das eines der schönsten und atmosphärisch dichtestem des Parks ist, auf keinen Fall, auch wenn man nichts dort kaufen will. Aber bei dem phantastischen Angebot an Sammlerstücken und Souvenirs wird es schwerfallen nichts zu kaufen!
Übrigens führt von Merlins Werkstatt ein direkter Weg in die Tiefen
des Schlosses. Wahrscheinlich hat Merlin diesen Weg als genutzt, um unbemerkt zum
Drachen vordringen und dort seine magischen Beschwörungen abhalten zu können.
