 Undoubtedly one of the Magic Kingdom's most famous attractions, Dumbo the Flying Elephant takes guests for a trip high above Fantasyland in jumbo size models of the famous elephant himself.

In total there are 16 Dumbo shaped cars on the carrousel style attraction, each capable of holding up to 2 people. Once the ride starts to turn, guests can control their own Dumbo with the use of a small lever which makes the car rise and fall.

Particularly popular with small children the ride attracts some of the longest lines in the park which tend to stay long throughout the day. The best times to enjoy the attraction are early in the morning (as soon as the park opens), during parades or (best of all) late in the evening when the whole of Fantasyland is beautifully illuminated making it even more magical

Since its opening the queue area of the Dumbo has been given a tented roof to keep guests dry during inclement weather.

While technically similar in design to Orbitron the elephants do not rise as higher the spaceships and go around in a much gentler, slower pace, more enjoyable for younger children and more fitting to the atmopshere of Fantasyland. Keep an eye out for Dumbo’s best friend Timothy Mouse who can be seen perched atop the ride holding onto the magic feather.

Bei diesem Karussell gibt es 16 Elefanten, die zu einem Rundflug einladen. Vor allem bei den Kindern ist dies eine der beliebtesten Attraktionen des Parks.

Diese Attraktion ist ansprechend gestaltet und erweckt eine Zirkusatmosphäre. Timothy die Maus dirigiert die Elefanten von einem Ballon über diesen aus.

Während der Fahrt auf diesem etwas anderen Karussell kann man jederzeit die Flughöhe selbst bestimmen und auf der obersten Ebene hat man einen sehr schönen Blick über das Fantasyland und seine Besucher.

Wenn dieses Erlebnis bei Tag auch nur etwas für Kinder ist, so hat es bei Nacht doch einen sehr großen Reiz, zum einen weil die Attraktion wundervoll beleuchtet ist, zum andern weil ein beeindruckender Blick über das nächtliche Fantasyland geboten wird. Dann wird die Fahrt auf jeden Fall zu einem romantischen Erlebnis. Besonders schön ist der kleine Wasserfall am südlichen Rand der Attraktion, wenn er Nachts angestrahlt ist!

Obwohl technisch sehr nah verwandt mit Orbitron, steigen die Elefanten nicht so hoch in den Himmel wie die Raumschiffe und kreisen auch etwas bedächtiger - in einer auch für kleinere Kinder geeigneten Geschwindigkeit, passend zur Atmosphere von Fantasyland.

Übrigens sind die Warteschlangen bei diesem Karussell sehr lang, was durch das Faible der Kinder für einen Flug mit Dumbo zustande kommt!

 As at Orbitron the Dumbo-queues move slowly and even grow to bigger length as at its Discoveryland counterpart due mainly to Dumbo’s massive appeal to young visitors.

It’s fair to say if guests enjoy one they should enjoy the other, too. Those who decide to ride both should try to ride Dumbo as early as possible.

Parents who want to let their child fly twice with Dumbo should enter the queueing-area separately with approximately 60 persons in between each other. As the child is landing with Dumbo the first time, the second one of his parents is near the entrance and the child can proceed toward him to ride again.

 Wie die Warteschlangen von Orbitron bewegen sich die von Dumbo nur sehr langsam und werden zudem noch deutlich länger - größtenteils wegen der großen Beliebtheit Dumbos vor allem bei den jüngsten Gästen.

Es stimmt wohl, daß Liebhaber einer der beiden Fahrten auch die jeweils andere genießen werden. Wer beide Fahrten erleben will, sollte dazu mit Dumbo möglichst am frühen Morgen abheben.

Eltern die ihrem Kind zwei Flüge mit Dumbo schenken wollen, sollten sich getrennt von einander mit einem Abstand von ca. 60 Gästen anstellen. Wenn das Kind dann zur ersten Landung ansetzt, befindet sich das zweite Elternteil kurz vor dem Einlaß und das Kind kann mit diesem erneut in die Lüfte aufbrechen.

The Dumbo ride originally built for Disneyland Paris can actually be found in Disneyland California. Its own version needed refurbishment during the construction of Euro Disney and was replaced with the one destined for Paris, subsequently a new ride was built which now stands in the park today.

 Wussten sie, dass die ursprünglich für Disneyland Paris gedachte Dumbo-Attraktion heute in Disneyland Kalifornien zu finden ist? Während der Bauarbeiten enstand größer Reparaturbedarf an der kalifornischen Dumbo-Attraktion, so daß man diese kurzerhand mit dem für Paris bestimmten Exemplar ersetzte. Anschließend wurde eine neue Kopie für Paris gebaut.
