 One of the many Disney attractions designed exclusively for Disneyland Paris Alice's Curious Labyrinth does not appear in any of the other Disney parks around the world. The Labyrinth was inspired by Disney's 1951 adaptation of Lewis Carrolls famous book. Guests encounter several characters from the film as they wind their way around the twisting and turning hedge flanked paths on the way to the Queen of Hearts castle at the centre.

The maze is divided into two sections, Passing through an ivy tunnel that represents the rabbit hole through which Alice fell leads guests into the first of these and starts their journey into Wonderland.

Once inside signs direct guests "This Way" or "That Way" there are tiny doorways, Leapfrog Fountains and sound effects through out. As guests start to wander deeper they will find the caterpillar smoking his pipe and the playing cards frantically painting the roses red.

So far it has been easy but from here guest can choose to exit the maze or proceed to the second section "The Queen of Hearts Maze" which is even more challenging. More special effects are never far away, this time it's the palace Playing Card Guards popping out from behind hedges to the shout of "Who goes there" or even the Queen herself appearing to cry's of "Off with your head" (in French of course). But with just a little perseverance guests can find their way the centre of the maze and the Queen of Hearts castle. Climbing the stairs gives a rewarding view of the park and offers an excellent picture opportunity.

Children will love the maze. With its varied characters hiding around each corner it offers just enough interest to keep their attention all the way to the centre. The option of being able to quit half way through is a great idea for younger children or foot sore adults.

 Alice's Curious Labyrinth wurde exklusiv für Disneyland Paris geschaffen und findet sich in keinem der anderen Disneyparks auf dieser Welt. Das Labyrinth wurde inspiriert von Disneys Adaption aus dem Jahre 1951 von Lewis Carrolls berühmten Buch. Besucher begegnen hier verschiedenen Figuren aus dem Film während sie sich langsam die heckengesäumten, verzweigten Wege vorarbeiten um zum Schloss der Herzkönigin zu gelangen.

Dieser Irrgarten ist in zwei Teile getrennt: Indem die Besucher durch einen Tunnel aus Efeu schreiten, der das Kaninchenloch darstellt, durch das Alice fiel, gelangt man zum Anfang der Reise durch das Wunderland.

Dort erwarten einen irreführende Wegweiser, winzigkleine Türen, springende Springbrunnen und die merkwürdigsten Klänge. Auf ihrem Weg treffen die Besucher auf die Raupe mit ihrer Wasserpfeife und die Spielkarten, die voller Panik die Rosen rot malen.

Soweit, so gut. Doch nun kann man sich entscheiden ob man den Irrgarten schon verlassen möchte oder den Mut aufbringt in den zweiten Teil des Labyrinths vorzustoßen: "The Queen of Hearts Maze", das noch verwirrender ist. Hinter jeder Ecke können die Kartensoldaten auftauchen und sogar die Königen selber stürmt hervor und fordert, dass Köpfe rollen. Aber mit etwas Geschick findet man leicht zum Schloss der Herzkönigin, von dessen Balkonen man einen wundervollen Blick auf ganz Fantasyland und darüberhinaus hat.

Kinder werden diesen Irrgarten lieben. Mit den verschiedenen Figuren, die sich hinter jeder Ecke verstecken, wird dieser nie langweilig.

 Most of the labyrinth is more of a hedged path than a true maze, although there are several false turns and dead ends to be taken there is never any real danger of getting truly lost.

Nevertheless, keep an eye on your children if you don't want to get seperated.

 Der Großteil des Labyrinths ist eher ein Pfad als ein richtiger Irrgarten. Obwohl man an einigen Ecken schon einen falschen Weg einschlagen kann, wird man sich hier trotzdem nicht verlaufen können.

Dennoch ist es nie falsch ein Auge auf seine Kinder zu werfen, wenn man nicht eventuell getrennt werden möchte.

 "Alice in Wonderland" was born in 1862, when Charles Dodgson told the stories of Alice and her wonderland to a friend's daughters: Ina, Edith and Alice Liddell.

Dodgson was born on January 27, 1832 in the English town of Daresbury in Cheshire. He became a noted mathematician and had an interested in the art of theater, poems and the human form itself. In 1856 he published a little poem of its own under a name, thad made him world-famous: Lewis Carroll.

In the early 1860's, he used to spend some time with the young daughter's of Henry Liddell, a colleague of his. He usually was taking out the little girls and their mother to a nearby river, where they enjoyed a picnic. Especially Alice Liddell was very fond of the stories that Dodgson used to tell them. And that Alice became the inspiration to the one Alice, who would follow the white rabbit through its hole into Wonderland.

When "Alice in Wonderland" was published in 1865 under Dodgson's pen-name Lewis Carroll, it became an instant hit. In 1872 a sequel followed: "Through the Looking Glass and what Alice found there".

Dodgson died in 1898, but the name "Lewis Carroll" and the little girl named Alice would live on for many years to come...

 "Alice im Wunderland" wurde 1862 geboren als Charles Dodgson die Geschichten von Alice und ihrem Wunderland den Töchtern eines Freundes erzählte: Ina, Edith und Alice Liddell.

Dodgson wurde am 27. Januar 1862 im englischen Städtchen Daresbury in Cheshire geboren. Er wurde zu einem anerkannten Mathematiker und verfolgte seine Interessen am Theater, Gedichten und der menschlichen Form selber. 1856 veröffentlichte er erstmals eines seiner eigenen Gedichte unter dem Namen, der ihn weltberühmt machen sollte: Lewis Carroll.

Anfag der 1860er Jahre verbrachte er viel Zeit mit den jungen Töchtern seines Kollegens Henry Liddell. Für gewöhnlich nahm er die drei kleinen Mädchen und ihre Mutter zum Ufer eines nahen Flusses mit, wo sie ein Picknick genossen. Besonders Alice Liddell liebte die Geschichten, die Dodgson ihnen erzählte. Und genau diese Alice wurde zur Inspiration für die Alice, die dem weißen Kaninchen durch seinen Bau ins Wunderland folgen sollte.

Als "Alice im Wunderland" 1865 unter Dodgsons Pseudonym Lewis Carroll veröffentlicht wurde, wurde es sofort zu einem Hit. 1872 folgte eine Fortsetzung: "Alice im Spiegelreich".

Dodgson starb im Jahr 1898, aber der Name "Lewis Carroll" und das kleine Mädchen namens Alice sollten auch noch viele Jahre lang weiterleben...

 The maze is suitable for most guests but does involve an 15 to 20 minute walk around its paths. If your feet are feeling particularly tired it may be an idea to skip this attraction in exchange for a relaxing trip aboard one of the it's small world boats just a short distance away.

 Der Irrgarten ist für beinahe alle Gäste geeignet, aber er beinhaltet eben einen 15 bis 20 minütigen Fußmarsch. Wenn man sich also schon ziemlich erschöpft fühlt, sollte man vielleicht diese Attraktion besser auslassen und eine entspannende Bootsfahrt bei it's small world antreten, das nur ein paar Meter entfernt ist.
